Karl Lagerfeld Debuts Short Film Remember Now

Karl Lagerfeld was joined by a host of beauties as he unveiled his new film last night.

The Chanel designer proudly premiered his short movie, Remember Now (check it out after the jump!), in the St. Tropez, South of France - just two days before the Cannes Film Festival - with Diane Kruger, Karolina Kurkova, Vanessa Paradis and Georgia May Jagger all there to show their support.

Karl - who is in town to show his Chanel Cruise collection - told WWD, “When I do a film, I see the movie before I’ve made it. I don’t make scripts because it’s written in my head. I like short one-liners.” The 17-minute film - which was screened at the town’s Cinema de la Renaissance - captures the good-natured summer hedonism of the beautiful area, which has become a playground for the rich and famous. Karl was allowed total control over the creative process and one of the stars of the film, Elisa Sednaoui, was impressed with his talents.

“Karl is a very spontaneous and creative director. He’s very responsive and alive for that. There’s no indecision, but he adapts himself,” Sednaoui said.

Photographers Prohibited Allowed at McQueen Memorial

Despite what Kanye West said about the late Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2010 collection, it appears as if he did complete most of his Fall 2010 line.

Originally set to premiere at Paris Fashion Week, the label has instead opted to showcase McQueen’s last collection in a memorial setting on March 9th and 10th. Very much unlike the live-stream of his Spring/Summer 2010 collection, photographers will not be permitted at the presentation. Photos of the pieces are (thankfully!) due to be released to the media.

Designers, Celebs Flock to Coco Avant Chanel

Despite the fact that Karl Lagerfeld didn’t have a show lined up for New York Fashion Week, celebrities and designers alike got their Chanel fix with the New York premiere of the biopic Coco Avant Chanel.

The film’s stars, Audrey Tautou and Alessandro Nivola, joined director Anne Fontaine for a night away from the fashion week craze. Rachel Bilson, Ciara, Estelle, Adriana Lima, Jason Wu, and Candace Bergen were among the other guests in attendance.

Tautou felt a strong connection and conviction with her subject, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel: “I really don’t see any other designer who has had such a destiny as Chanel. A movie [about a different designer] shouldn’t be made.”

The film makes its way across the US in limited theaters next Friday, September 25.
