Karl Lagerfeld Casts Keira Knightley as Coco Chanel

Keira Knightley, a favorite of Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, has been hand-picked by the designer to portray Coco Chanel for a short film in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the label's first store in Deuville, France.
Already a celebrity spokesmodel for the French fashion house - whose latest commercials for their Coco Mademoiselle fragrance sparked controversy over its provocative, sensual content - it is no surprise that Lagerfeld decided to cast the A-list film actress to bring Chanel's founder to the screen.
Though the film is planned to be shot on location in Paris, Deuville will be recreated in retro sets that reflect its "original small seaside town charm." French actress Clotilde Hesme has also been cast to play Coco's aunt Adrienne.
While the short's title has yet to be leaked, it is scheduled to premiere in Singapore in conjunction with the unveiling of Chanel's upcoming cruise collection in May.

+ Fans of The Hunger Games and those with an affinity of couture gowns were excited to see the gorgeous dress Jennifer Lawrence sported in promotional images released for the film last week. Costume designer Trish Summerville spilled the beans on the designer of the dress, who is an Indonesian designer named Tex Saverio.
+ New Harvey Nichols ads for their "Love Thyself" campaign - which features females models appearing to kiss themselves - raised enough eyebrows to warrant 17 complaints to the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). Thankfully, they were quickly dismissed.
+ After recently verbally attacking Duchess Catherine over her lack of recycling clothes, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has now targeted First Lady Michelle Obama, calling her style "dreadful."
+ One lucky Rihanna fan was not only awarded the chance to be one of the first to see the singer's River Island collection but was also treated to a surprise appearance from the singer herself - at her changing room door!

Annie Leibovitz Shoots ‘Les Miserables’ Cast for Vogue
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Editorials,

As if there wasn't enough publicity for Tom Hooper's upcoming film adaptation of Les Miserables, Vogue just had to have noted fashion photographer Annie Leibovitz capture the cast for their glossy pages. Admittedly, the content is right up Leibovitz's dark, dreamy alley, but they all basically look like the film's posters - with a more elaborate backdrop. Well, maybe except for the fact that Anne Hathaway does actually look like a dying prostitute (seen after the jump) in these photos.
The editorial - which also features Amanda Seyfriend, Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Isabella Allen - will appear in Vogue's December issue, clearly to coincide with the film's December 25 release date.

After a "huge audition [process]," French actor Gaspard Ulliel - whom you may recall from Gus Van Sant's heartbreakingly sweet short in Paris, Je T'aime - has been cast as the lead in an upcoming biopic of French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.
Announced this past year at the Cannes Film Festival, the film - directed by Bertrand Bonello - will go into production this spring. Although there is neither a formal script nor screenplay just yet, the film is expected to focus on the designer's life from the mid-Sixties to about 1976.
