Dolce & Gabbana to Launch Children’s Collection

Stefano Gabbana and Domenico DolceDolce & Gabbana will launch its first ever childrenswear collection next month.

The Italian design duo - made up of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana - say the line, which is aimed at newborns to 10-year-olds, will be just as stylish as their mainline as it has great importance to them.

"I didn't know much about this world, but Domenico's brother has three children aged two to six. The line is conceived as a further expansion of the Dolce & Gabbana world, in terms of product, design content, craftsmanship, function and positioning. This is an homage to Italy and to our tradition. It's part of our culture and marks one of the most important moments in our lives," Stefano said.

The collection will include daywear, innerwear, beachwear, accessories and footwear and the designers say they sought advice from mother as they know it needed to be practical as well as stylish.

"We interviewed all the mothers because the collection must be practica. We learned a lot, plenty of details. For example, it's better to have sleeveless onesies and freedom of movement - kids don't want to feel too constricted," Domenico said.

Gwen Stefani Designing Collection For Target

Gwen StefaniGwen Stefani is teaming up with Target to create an affordable range of clothes for babies, children and young teenagers. The No Doubt singer - who already has her own fashion range L.A.M.B. - will work on the collection, entitled Harajuku Mini, with the budget store, which will be a spin-off of her successful Harajuku Lovers young contemporary apparel and accessories collection and Harajuku Lovers fragrance.

"Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I've always wanted to do a cool children's fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid's clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed. Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid's clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices."

Supportive Dad Richie Sambora

Ava Sambora modeling for her dad's collectionRichie Sambora will support his daughter if she wants to become a full-time model. The Bon Jovi rocker, who has his own fashion line, White Trash Beautiful, says 13-year-old Ava is already showing signs of making it in the fashion world after modeling clothes for his range but says she needs to finish her education first.

"It's so much fun. I did a photo shoot with her a few years ago. I just said to the photographer, 'Can you take some pictures for me, for my house of my daughter?' And she went 'Dad can I model?' The only modelling she has really done has been at my shows. That is where we are right now - her priorities are schoolwork and also I believe in maintaining the innocence of children. Before that when she is 18 or 19 she is going to do what she wants to do and I'm going to support her and help her through it," Richie said of working with his daughter.

However, Richie says if Ava does want to make it as a model, she will have to be prepared to work very hard. "Be very afraid and work very hard at your craft. There's so many people trying to get in. It's getting harder and harder all over, in every industry in every business," he advised.

Jennifer Lopez Shoots Gucci Campaign With Her Kids

Jennifer Lopez and her kids at the Gucci shootJennifer Lopez is set to star in a new Gucci campaign alongside her two-year-old twins. The singer-and-actress and little Max and Emme will be the faces of the Italian fashion house's new children's fashion line, with the campaign being shot in July by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

According to WWD, the images feature a sun-kissed Jennifer and her children wearing Gucci clothes and accessories, including sunglasses, while playing on the beach. As part of the campaign, Gucci will make charitable donations to UNICEF and the Maribel Foundation, a charity founded by Jennifer and her sister, Lynda. Jennifer had previously said she is keen to keep her family life private as much as possible because she knows too much attention could have a bad effect.

"We're not ones to parade the kids around. Marc is really adamant about that. He's really protective. We don't want them getting used to that life. It's a weird existence. I used to be of the attitude, many years ago, that I would just live my life and not care. But at the same time, you shouldn't just throw caution to the wind, because there are consequences to that lifestyle."

Suri CruiseFour year-old designs her own clothes.

The daughter of and Tom Cruise, Holmes claims that Suri chooses her own designs and has done so since she was just 18 months.

“I grew up the youngest of five, so there were a lot of hand-me-downs that I would sort of change up.  And Suri and I do that now with her clothes. Or rather, she does it. She says, ‘I want this sleeve cut,’ and it’s like, ‘Okay, we’ll cut it.’ She picks out all of her own clothes and has since she was one-and-a-half.”

Katie, 31, also claims to have had a hand in making clothes for her, but has to get someone else to sew them as she doesn’t have the necessary skills: “I started making clothes for Suri when she was born, designing dresses, and then having seamstresses sew them, because I don’t sew very well. As a child, I was always drawing clothes, and I’ve always loved fabrics, and when Suri was born, I wanted to have certain things be from me and created just by me for her.”

Frida Giannini at the end of the Gucci Fall/Winter 2010 showMove over, Gap Kids— is set to launch a children’s wear line.

The Italian fashion house’s creative director, Frida Giannini, wants to branch out into kids clothes with a range available starting in June. The first line will be unveiled in Italy and then hit around 40 stores worldwide. Frida is currently in Singapore - where she announced her future plans - and was honored to have an orchid named after her, the Paravanda Frida.

“It was very touching and I loved the thought that the orchid will still be there a few hundred years from now. I have never experienced such an honor before.”

The orchid, a white flower with fuchsia tips, was also the inspiration for 88 limited edition Boston bags which Frida exclusively designed for Singapore to benefit children’s charity Mainly I Love Kids (MILK). The white-and-pink Paravanda Frida bags sold out within a month of their launch in February, which left Frida stunned. Speaking at the opening of the revamped Gucci flagship at the Paragon mall on Orchard Road, Frida told WWD, “I always feel surprised in a very positive way at how customers really relate to the brand.”

Heidi Klum at this year's Victoria's Secret show

Despite having given birth to her fourth child last month and claiming she was merely going to host the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Heidi Klum could not resist the allure of the catwalk.

While she swapped the usual, revealing lingerie for a full bodice, it’s clear that whatever training or dieting the supermodel did worked wonders in returning her to the runway!

Can you even spot the supposed “extra” twenty pounds she claims to still have?

Katie Holmes and Suri Wear Matching Dresses

Katie Holmes and daughter Suri in matching outfits

Judging by a photo taken of Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri, the actress-turned-designer wasn’t kidding about that children’s collection; I was hoping she would at least spare the kids.

In the picture, Holmes and her mature daughter stepped out in matching red dresses from her range, Holmes & Yang.

I’m still in shock that Maxfield actually chose these designs over Victoria Beckham’s creations. Holmes could at least try to make her outfit look good (Suri, on the other hand, looks adorable)—is her stylist too busy sewing more ugly products?
