Jessica and Ashlee Simpson Team Up For Fashion

Pop stars-turned-designers Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson are teaming up for a new clothing line. The singing sisters are to collaborate on a line of tween apparel featuring sportswear, denim and activewear in their first fashion venture together, which will be part of the Jessica Simpson Collection.

"Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I'm excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today's tweens," said Jessica, whose fashion empire is set to be worth an estimated $1 billion this year.

Ashlee hopes her venture into fashion will be inspirational for young girls wanting to experiment with their personal style: "My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion."

Jennifer Lopez Talks About Her Failed Collection

Singer-actress-American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez admits that her first foray into fashion was a huge disappointment. Lopez teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger's brother Andy to launch her own clothing range, Sweetface, in 2001 but now admits it wasn't what she expected as she felt "trapped" by it.

"I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn't get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn't believe in," she told the New York Times newspaper.

Although the line closed, Jennifer didn't let it put her off designing another line - this time she has teamed up with Tommy and her husband Marc Anthony to create a fashion collection with Kohls. They are all confident the line will be a success because Jennifer has lots of control over it.
