No Designer Clothes For Chloe Moretz

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities,

Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz on the red carpetChloe Moretz's mother won't let her buy designer clothes. The 14-year-old actress regularly wears high fashion clothes on the red carpet, but her mother insists the starlet only buys her clothes from high street shops.

"My mom won't let me buy high-fashion stuff unless it's TK Maxx or a birthday occasion. I love going to Topshop, Urban Outfitters and American Apparel, I'm in love with their jackets."

However, Chloe's mum will make an exception when it comes to footwear, and Chloe admitted she has gone slightly overboard by splashing out on a huge collection of Rubert Sanderson heels: "The one thing my mom will let me get is a nice shoe sometimes. I have so many shoes by that label. They're not ridiculously comfortable to wear but they are the most beautiful."

Chloe has many style inspirations with both her mum and Michelle Pfeiffer vying for the top spot. "I have a lot of looks, but right now I'm really into grunge. Messy hair, black heels. I get Michelle Pfeiffer with it. My mom has the most incredible clothes from the eighties. We're going skiing this winter. I wanted to wear her Moncler ski jacket but she threw it out."

Items Du Jour: Siriano Designs Sponges and Beyonce’s New Look

Beyonce behind the scenes of her new music video-- Freelance model/photographer/retoucher Felice Fawn defends and provides proof of her Facebook conversation with Terry Richardson, which (not surprisingly) perpetuated his sleazy image. A fan of his work, Fawn is still holding out that the person who messaged her was a fraud.

-- American Apparel is supposedly even closer to filing bankruptcy.

-- Male model Eric Zentner -- who appeared in Versace ads, Teen Vogue editorials, and a Katy Perry music video -- was killed in a hit and run accident while he was en route to visit his mother last Saturday. Police are still searching for the suspect.

-- Beyonce was spotted on the set of her latest music video, which features the first single off her new album. In the photos, she wears Roberto Cavalli Pre-Spring 2011 and Fall/Winter 2011. Like her gal pal Gaga, she seems to have again reinvented her look.

Items Du Jour: Lara Stone Covers Vogue Again, Alber Elbaz Cares

Pregnant Lily Allen at Givenchy—A pregnant Lily Allen showed up at Givenchy in some chic pregnancy wear. True to Fall/Winter looks, she kept it simple and Parisian with a gray long coat, white blouse, and black pumps.

Glee star Lea Michele has become quite the fashion darling, striking a pose with Zac Posen. With her nude robe-like dress, I’d say that she has some more styling etiquette to learn.

—Alber Elbaz is probably the sweetest, most caring designer. The Lanvin creative gave his models the option of wearing comfy gladiator sandals (at the last minute!) for his Spring/Summer 2011 show.

—After scoring Vogue Paris‘s coveted 90th anniversary cover, Lara Stone is right back on Vogue—this time, it’s in her native UK mag.

—Finally taking a cue from some sensible publicists, American Apparel attempts to save the brand’s image in some new ads that feature a less-creepy Dov in the face of their financial woes. He just still couldn’t resist shooting the ads in his bed.

—Traditional and iconic American swimsuit model Marisa Miller changes things up for 944, sporting a dark bob wig and gloves—a far cry from her usual California-esque look.

Peaches Geldof Displays Her Support For Gays

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories:

Peaches Geldof

British model and stylish celebrity Peaches Geldof was spotted in Los Angeles sporting an American Apparel “Legalize Gay” shirt, which calls for the repeal of California’s Proposition 8.

While she may support legalizing gay marriages, Geldof can’t vote for much, considering she’s not an American citizen (despite how long she’s resided in the states). At the very least, perhaps she could’ve shown her support for the cause by other means, considering American Apparel has been hit with a slew of negative criticism for its leaked hiring policies (not to mention CEO Dov Charney’s rampant sexual harassment history).

Would you sport one of these “Legalize Gay” shirts, or is there a better way to raise awareness to get Prop 8 repealed?

Dov Charney Denies No Uglies Policy, Will Answer Your Questions

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Health & Beauty, News, Rumors,

CEO Dov CharneyIn light of a former (anonymous) American Apparel employee’s allegations that the hiring policy is heavily weighed by the attractiveness of the applicant, the international company has issued a statement denying such claims.

“American Apparel does not hire or retain applicants based on ‘beauty.’ Our main priority is finding people with a strong sense of style who can inspire customers as they make selections from our extensive line… It has never been the policy of American Apparel, as some blogs claim, to fire employees who are not “good looking” or any of the other accusations implied by the anonymous or unverified third party sources. The company legitimately reviews current photographs of job applicants and employees to consider their sense of style and the way in which they present themselves… This is a standard practice among fashion-forward retailers.

While they may call it “style,” I’m inclined to believe that it’s just another word for “beauty.” I mean, have you seen the hipsterbots at the store?

Moreover, the press statement addresses the topic of hiring process, but has made no mention of its irksomely precise grooming etiquette... If you’d like to talk to CEO Dov Charney about any of this, he’s made his phone number available to the public:

Items Du Jour: Adriana Lima Teaches Baby to Pose, More Mugler Rumors

Adriana Lima with husband and baby—Designer and Britain’s Next Top Model judge Julien MacDonald recently said that having a plus-size model win “makes it a joke.” Perhaps fellow British designer Mark Fast should give him some counsel, considering he was widely praised for using plus-size models in his Spring/Sumer 2010 show last year.

—Supermodel Adriana Lima poses for Brazil’s HOLA! magazine with her husband Marko Jaric and their new baby Valentina. Looks like she’s training her to model already!

Eclipse actress Ashley Greene gives into her cravings and claims that she doesn’t diet. As if we needed another reason to be jealous of her…

—Although plus-size models have been making their mark at current shows, normal people made a splash at Sao Paulo Fashion Week when they appeared on the Do Estilista runway. Despite their varying physiques, it was obvious that regular, non-models do know how to own a catwalk.

Items Du Jour: Taylor Swift Stops Sparkling, BryanBoy Alerts Twitter of Threesome

Kristen Stewart—Country-pop singer Taylor Swift strikes a pose on the cover of July’s Marie Claire. For once, she isn’t wearing a sparkling, glitter-happy dress.

—Those who have thought that women larger than size 6 can’t look good in a bathing suit have been put to shame: French Marie Claire is making huge waves with their June issue, which features plus-sized models in a swimsuit editorial.

—Apparently Miley Cyrus isn’t the only Disney star who needs lessons in stylish shoe walking. Vanessa Hudgens nearly took a fall from walking in her ankle boots.

—Fashion blogger BryanBoy alerted the internet and his Twitter followers about a Swedish threesome he was involved in. More proof that bloggers can have interesting and scandalous lives.

Twilight actress and paparazzi target Kristen Stewart was seen promoting Eclipse in Seoul, South Korea with extra-long hair extensions. After her post-The Runaways mullet debacle, I’m relieved to see her do something to her hair for a change.
