Dropping Dimes On The Daily: January 24, 2007

Melo with the ball!Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about me looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks.  Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts!  But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: “My ball!  MINE!  MINE! MINE!”

Didn’t I tell you yesterday that Carmelo Anthony would be the main man on offense in Denver?  Huh?  Huh?  I think I did.  Against the Supersonics last night, Melo hung 34 points on 12-for-26 shooting from the floor, also hitting 10 out of 11 shots from the charity stripe.  Allen Iverson?  Hit seven of 19 shots, finishing with 21 points.  HOWEVER, AI did drop 10 dimes, so while he may not be the leading scorer on most nights, the Answer will still produce in the points category along with very good assists.  So, what I say from here on out, please just follow my wisdom because I’m not only dropping dimes, but dropping knowledge as well!

Hey, a fat Nene Hilario scored 17 points in only 23 minutes.  Deep leagues, did you hear that?  Seriously, Nene has been down on his being out of shape and dedicated to improving his condition, which will be nice for down the stretch for not only the Nuggets, but you as well.  Since Marcus Camby is always an injury waiting to happen, monitor Nene’s play in standard leagues.

Yes, I’m going to be all about the Nuggets by talking about J.R. Smith who is loving the Melo/AI duo, which is enabling him to hit from behind the arch and he did just that last night.  Smith scored 20 points, partly because of his hitting six treys - yeah, Smith is DA BOMB!

Knock, knock.  Who’s there?  David.  David who?  David West, MOFO!  Did you remember that he was around and he’s back for the Hornets?  It’s possible he fell off the radar and he might be available in standard leagues… small chance, but check!  In shallow leagues, you need to consider West as he’s double dipped in all three games he’s played since missing 30 games.  Last night against the Sixers, it was 23/11.  Before the season started, I was way down on West because of Peja Stojakovic’s presence.  But, since Peja is out and probably will be for a bit longer, if not the rest of the season (my speculation), West is good to go.

Antonio Daniels 20 points last night against the Suns is a fluke.

Andre Miller is holding his own in Philly, isn’t he?  He finished with 17 points and 11 assists last night.  Hopefully you didn’t do anything crazy once Miller was traded from the high-powered Nuggs offense for the average scoring Sixers.  Miller seems to be connecting with AI (Andre Iguodala) on a lot of alley-oops lately.

HOLY COW!  Kirk Hinrich had a dozen assists!  Leandro Barbosa had 11!  Don’t expect those numbers from these players for about a month!

I think Chris Kaman ate his Wheaties.  Kaman scored 11, grabbed 11, and blocked six against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Sonics frontcourt duo of Nick Collison and Chris Wilcox ain’t bad, huh?  Collison is showing signs that this will be his breakout season with 18 points and decade of Windex wipes.  Wilcox is earning his money, scoring 25 points and getting beasty with a dozen boards.  Rashard Lewis is still a long way away, so don’t be surprised by this duo’s output.

Catch you on the rebound!
