Dropping Dimes Draft Blog: Round 7, Pick 9

Description

Fellow Dropping Dimes Writer Alvin and myself were celebrating a friend’s birthday at an out-of-town nightclub. The crew we were with that night was chill and the vibe at the club was hype. The objective that night was to get the birthday boy nice and loaded. Each member of the crew took turns buying rounds. Word of advice: “Do not follow the birthday boy to the bar” or else you will be sucked into the madness. Al and myself made that mistake of following the crew to the bar for each round of drinks. It is not a good idea to down the same amount of shooters as the birthday boy. Al and myself were really happy till a friend handed us a bottle of Miller Genuine Draft (MGD). After drinking half of the MGD, my world was starting to spin. Welcome to Drunkdom! Once the room starts spinning and you babble like a 4-year-old, time to sit down and shut up. We all staggered to our hotel room down the street and passed out. Mission accomplished, birthday boy had a good time. Next morning, I asked Al how he liked the MGD and he mentioned that it put him over the edge as well. “Miller Time” for the Canadian contingent of Dropping Dimes crew was the ticket to Drunkdom.

Time to sober up and realize that “Miller Time” in Memphis is not a bad thing, either. Mike Miller is looking to fill the role as top scorer for the Grizzlies as Pau Gasol is mending from a broken left foot. Take a peep at the rest of the article to see how Mike Miller can help your fantasy team.

Round 7, Pick 9: Mike Miller, SG/SF, Memphis Grizzlies

With Pau Gasol out until January, the Grizzlies are scheduled to play 32 games by January 1, 2007. Mike Miller has at least 32 games to strut his stuff as the top dog (bear?) for the Grizzlies. If Gasol is out a little longer then Miller will continue his role as the number one option on offense. Expect a nice boost to his scoring average of 13.7 points last year to about 18+ points. You can expect at least a couple of treys from Miller, but his 3PT% will drop without the inside presence of Pau Gasol. With no inside threat for the Grizzlies there will be less open looks on the perimeter.

Miller is a decent rebounder for a SG and will average close to 6 rebs/game. Miller should average close to a steal a game, as well.

“Miller Time” should be able to pour out 18 points, 6 rebounds, 2 treys and a steal per game while Pau Gasol is out. Expect Miller’s points to drop down to 15 points/game and his 3 PT% to increase with Gasol back in the lineup.

Mike Miller is good for my fantasy team but keep the Miller Genuine Draft away!
