Despite the buzzwords that get thrown around, rich people are not really job creators, they’re money-holders.

Comic Book Jobs: Checking Out Craigslist

It's time to visit my favorite place that isn't in front of the TV: Craigslist. Let's see who's hiring:

Heroic Publishing in Long Beach, California is looking for an assistant for a couple of days each week.

A female model is needed for a superhero photo shoot "for a comic book project for class."

A live-action comic book movie needs an actor to play the villain. "Any stage fighting, martial arts, and certainly any acting background is preferential but not absolutely necessary."

1821 Comics in Los Angeles is on the hunt for interns. They're doing the Romeo And Juliet: The War graphic novel with Stan Lee.

A "Comic Book Group" based in New York is looking for the full run of comic book freelancers: pencillers, inkers, colorists, letterers.

Comic Book Jobs: 1821 Intern

1821 is looking for a few interns. And no this isn't some "live without electricity time travel show on The History Channel."

1821 is a new graphic novel and film production company (they're the ones doing Romeo And Juliet: The War with Stan Lee).

It's a 3-month unpaid internship, but it comes with school credit and free lunches. They want a couple of interns ASAP and you'll be working in either their film or their comic division.

Interns are expected to answer phones, assist with script coverage/notes, plus "research, errands, office duties, and special projects." An interest in the comics would certainly help.

Comic Book Jobs: Toys, Actors And Taxes!

Is there a hint of Geppetto in your gene pool? Can you design and build your own toys? If so, there's an opportunity for you at 1821 Comics (that's the new L.A.-based comic book company that's working with Stan Lee on The War).

They're looking for a Toy Developer to design and build prototypes for toys and action figures "related to our various graphic novel properties."

I've worked with toy designers before and given the nod to various prototypes, including a character I co-created called, oddly enough, Prototype. It's fun. It's like watching Michelangelo sculpt Aquaman.

An "action/comedy web series" has sent out a casting call for non-union actors to appear in Deathfist Ninja Gkaiser. The short film will pay "homage to Japanese tokusatsu shows (i.e. Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Godzilla)."

In addition to the standard human roles, they're looking for actors to play Dark Shinobi, the Butterfly Ninjas, and Dragon Sage Siyoki. My acting experience is limited to eating a Caesar salad at an L.A. dinner theater but I'll definitely want to see this when it's online.
