Weekend Reading: Star Wars, James Bond, Nick Fury & Walking Dead

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, DC Comics, Marvel Comics,

Han SoloBig weekend: there's a new James Bond out in theaters and no matter if it's good or bad, the arguments over how it stacks up against all the other Bonds has already begun.

So in honor of the new Bond movie, Skyfall, Life shows off pix of the very first Bond girl you don’t remember: Linda Christian, from 1954’s Casino Royale with Barry Nelson.

One of the artists who worked on Wreck-It Ralph, Joe Pitt, has put some of his fantastic conceptual art up on his Tumblr.

Noted film critic Todd McCarthy has some advice to the makers of the next trilogy of Star Wars movies.

At Longbox Graveyard, Paul O’Connor has a Nick Fury gallery that can’t be beat. Don’t yield, back S.H.I.E.L.D.

One of my favorite cartoonists, the television writer/producer Bruce Eric Kaplan, is interviewed by Ari Karpel @ Fast Company.

Scoop makes the case for a collection of Don McGregor’s and Gene Colan’s Nathaniel Dusk.

Wag The Fox chases down Green Lantern: Blackest Night by Geoff Johns and Doug Mahnke.

Crime novelist Bill Crider likes Warren Ellis' new crime novel, Gun Machine.

Gary Sassaman at Innocent Bystander is yet another reviewer who loves Sean Howe’s new book. "Marvel Comics: The Untold Story ranks up there with the best of comics histories. It's a stunning achievement, one sure to be up for awards next year.”

And finally, Early Word looks briefly at The Walking Dead. Nope, not the comics. Not the TV show either. The original paperback novels.

Now go forth and use your internets responsibly!
