Simon Cowell Suffered a Breakdown

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Meltdowns, Rumors,

Simon CowellSimon Cowell had a breakdown earlier this summer.

The TV mogul suffered a collapse as the strains of managing his working life - which includes a portfolio of shows including The X Factor in the UK and US, Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent - became too much for him. Simon reportedly had to take a step back from auditions for this year's 'X Factor' in the US after he feared his lifestyle was making him into a "weird vampire."

In an updated new chapter of his book, Sweet Revenge: The Intimate Life of Simon Cowell, Tom Bower says the TV star told his close friend and X Factor colleague Louis Walsh, "I don't want any more tablets and pills. I'm cutting out the lot, including cigarettes. I desperately need peace. I'm craving normality. I've got to work out my demons and come out of it. I have to get back to where I was years ago. I had to stop reading texts at three in the morning and making calls later and later. I wanted peace."

Simon Cowell Apologizes Over Book

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Hook-ups, Rumors,

Simon CowellSimon Cowell has apologized to anyone his unauthorized biography has "embarrassed."

The 52-year-old X Factor boss spent last week "hiding under a pillow" as extracts from the sensational book by journalist Tom Bower were published - including claims he had a fling with fellow judge Dannii Minogue and wanted to sleep with third judge Cheryl Cole. The book also tells how he wanted to sack Gary Barlow from the show for being "too scripted," and how he deemed his ill-fated engagement to make-up artist Mezghan Hussainy to be a "big mistake."

Despite co-operating with the author, Simon insists he had no idea what would be included in the final copy, and has expressed his regret for shaming anyone.

Turning up for the launch of the book at the Serpentine Gallery in London, he said, "I wish to publicly apologize to anyone I embarrassed. I do have to apologize to members of my family. Ten years ago if I had read someone would be writing a book about me saying I made loads of money and shagged loads of girls I would have said, 'Great!' I spent the week hiding under a pillow and I couldn't bear to look at The Sun [newspaper]. I knew it was bad because friends were sending me sweet messages saying, 'Are you OK?'"

Simon Cowell and Biographer ‘Remain Friends’

Tom Bower's unauthorized Simon Cowell biographySimon Cowell "remains friends" with his unauthorized biographer Tom Bower.

The 52-year-old music mogul granted the journalist hundreds of hours of access during Tom's research for the tell-all book - which sensationally claims Simon had a fling with Dannii Minogue and wanted to sleep with Cheryl Cole. But despite the subsequent fall-out, Tom says he has enough dirt on the X Factor boss for a follow-up, and insists there is no bad blood between them.

"The first call was, 'You are getting a lot of publicity for your book.' He said, 'It's a bit embarrassing, you got things I didn't know you'd got.' But we get on very well. Finally he said to me last night, 'We remain friends.' There will be a sequel. He'll be with us for a long time I think," he said, recalling his conversation with Simon after the book's release.

However, the writer insists that despite Simon's co-operation, he still had to work hard to find out the truth about his many women: "He didn't hand it out to me. He made me go and do what journalists do, which is dig. Then I confronted him with some things - and other things I wouldn't tell him about."

Simon Cowell: It’s Not My Style to Kiss and Tell

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Rumors,

Simon CowellSimon Cowell has hit back at his unauthorized biography, insisting it is not his style to "kiss and tell."

The X-Factor boss is said to be "hardly sleeping" following the publication of journalist Tom Bower's book - which claims he had an affair with fellow judge Dannii Minogue in 2007, and that he believed his engagement to Mezghan Hussainy was a "big mistake."

Former X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne is angry at being mentioned and dragged into Simon's "world of debauchery," and present judge Gary Barlow was left smarting by claims Simon wanted to sack him for being "too scripted."

But despite allowing Tom access to his life, the 52-year-old music mogul admits he feels "embarrassed" by the revelations. "It's not my habit to kiss and tell. I've never done it. I've always tried to keep my private life private, and it so unfortunate. So I was feeling very embarrassed and not gentlemanly at all this week because it's just not my style. At the same time, the guy's got the right to write the book he wants, but it has been uncomfortable, to be honest with you," he said.
