Amanda Bynes’ Lawyer Dispels Schizophrenia Rumors

Amanda Bynes doesn't have schizophrenia.
The troubled actress, who completed psychiatric treatment in December following a series of public outbursts, has asked her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, to shoot down rumors claiming she suffers from the mental disorder.
"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition. She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private. However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it," Arminak said, speaking to People.
The attorney also claims the 28-year-old star, who chucked a marijuana bong out the window of her apartment in New York City last May, has never abused drugs or alcohol and she quit cannabis nine months ago. "She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she's been marijuana-free for the past nine months," he explained.

Judge Praises Amanda Bynes’ Mom

Amanda Bynes' mother has been praised for helping her to turn her life around.
Lynn Bynes became The Easy A actress's temporary conservator, giving her control of the star's personal and financial affairs, last July just days after Amanda, who was discharged from treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in December, was sectioned for her erratic behavior when she set a fire in a neighbor's driveway in Thousand Oaks, California.
And the judge overseeing Lynn's conservator duties in Oxnard credited her for Amanda's amazing progress in court on Tuesday, according to TMZ.com, saying, "Good job, Mrs. Bynes. Well done."
A source recently revealed that Amanda's parents are thrilled that her life is more stable but don't think she is ready to move out of their home just yet, even though she is eager to get her own place.
Amanda Bynes Advised Against Fashion School
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Style, Meltdowns, Rumors,
Amanda Bynes has been advised against attending fashion school.
The troubled actress was only discharged from treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder last week, but is said to have signed for classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in California, which psychiatrists have advised against.
"Amanda was told by her doctors that going to fashion school, so soon after being released... [is] an absolutely terrible idea for her to do at this time - it's almost setting her up for failure. There will be pressure on Amanda as far as school work, deadlines, and it's unlikely she will be able to succeed. The fashion school she is enrolled in is in Orange County, almost two hours from her parents' house, and she still doesn't have a valid driver's license," a source said.
Amanda is back living with her parents, Rick and Lynn - who has been granted conservatorship of her daughter - but the source thinks she should take returning to her studies more slowly.

Amanda Bynes has been released from rehab.
The 27-year-old actress was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in July, but she has now completed her inpatient treatment and is recovering at her parents' home in Los Angeles. Amanda's mother's lawyer, Tamar Arminak, released a statement saying, "Amanda has completed her inpatient rehabilitation and she's feeling better every day."
The Easy A star spent two months at UCLA Medical Center in California, where she was allegedly diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, after she struck up a small fire in the driveway of a stranger's home in Thousand Oaks, Los Angeles. Amanda was then moved to the Canyon treatment facility in Malibu at the end of September, where she continued to make improvements, and she is now looking into joining a college.
"She's now looking at various colleges with the intention of majoring in fashion design. She's mentioned before she's interested in creating a clothing line," Tamar added.

Amanda Bynes to Appear in Court?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Television, Legal Issues, Meltdowns, Rumors,
Amanda Bynes could soon have her day in court.
The 27-year-old actress has been deemed fit to stand trial after her DUI arrest (Driving Under the Influence) in 2012, despite being diagnosed as a schizophrenic with bipolar disorder.
"Amanda's case was in Mental Health Court this AM, and the judge read the court-ordered medical evaluation of the actress, and determined she is now competent to face the DUI charges. Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, did not object to the findings so the criminal case - which was put on hold - will not go forward," a source told TMZ.
A conservatorship is being sought for the former Nickelodeon star who was originally scheduled to appear in court on September 24, regarding her April 2012 arrest in West Hollywood, but she failed to turn up and the case was pushed back.

Joaquin Phoenix: Just a Nut?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Movies, Music, Rumors,
Joaquin Phoenix has been making waves - and scoring parodies - for his new disheveled look and reticent manner. Hollywood buzz has it that Phoenix is doing it all for the sake of a documentary, but one psychiatrist has stepped forward with an entirely different - and not so lighthearted - theory.
Paul Dobransky is a relationships expert and an author. The doctor points to signs of schizophrenia in the actor’s behavior, saying “there is something wrong,” adding, “and it’s beyond drug abuse.” He pointed to Ben Stiller’s Oscar skit (which poked fun at Phoenix and became a highlight of the evening), saying “I was pretty offended by that skit at the Oscars,” in recent comments to the Times. “It struck me as potentially beating down on the mentally ill.”
Now, that’s bold. Susan Patricola, who’s the current publicist for Phoenix, fired back. “How absolutely inappropriate for a doctor who has no personal interaction or relationship with someone to diagnose them. And to do so in a public forum,” she scoffed. Patricola called the comments “astonishingly inappropriate!”
“The jury is not exactly in on what is happening,” Dobransky commented. “Whatever it is, it’s not funny.”
