Katy Perry Criticizes Lady Gaga’s Alejandro Video

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Music, Style, Rivalries, Videos, Rumors,

Katy Perry at the MTV Movie AwardsJust as Christina Aguilera assures fans that there is no feud between her and , pop star Katy Perry stirs up a ruckus on her Twitter page regarding the eccentric singer’s latest music video, “Alejandro.”

Shortly after the video’s release today, Perry wrote, “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.” The remark shouldn’t come too surprisingly, as Perry (like Gaga) comes from a religious background (she got her career started singing gospel music); however, keep in mind that the statement is mouthed by the same person whose claim to fame was singing about a lesbian kiss.

The video, directed by favorite Steven Klein, is a whirlwind of Catholic images: latex nun outfit, swallowed rosary beads, and a crucifix-emblazoned raincoat getup. An obvious homage to the queen of pop, the fact that Gaga’s video is either loved or hated seems to ring an air of accomplishment for the singer.

Will Perry’s comment be enough to spark Gaga to defend her latest video?

Jane Lynch Weighs in on Newsweek Article

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Television,

Jane LynchThe aftermath of the infamous Newsweek article is still ongoing, and now Glee’s has come forward with a statement. Lynch is best-known to Gleeks as wisecracking, no-nonsense Sue Sylvester, New Directions nemesis and Cheerios coach. The actress who plays Sylvester, Jane Lynch, is an openly gay performer, making her one of the targets of the Newsweek article which alleged that homosexual actors are unable to play straight roles.

The article, “Straight Jacket,” was written by Ramin Setoodeh, who has since been by show creator Ryan Murphy. “I do think what Kristin [Chenoweth] and Ryan [Murphy] did was so important, and I’m glad that they said it,” Lynch said of her co-workers, both of whom came forward to deliver scathing statements after “Straight Jacket” was published. “I don’t think you have to slap somebody down for making an opinion that you don’t agree with,” Lynch said.

Quote of the Day: James Cameron Calls Glenn Beck an A-Hole

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Television, Rants, Rivalries,

Glenn Beck and James Cameron

is a f**king a**hole. I’ve met him. He called me the anti-Christ….and not about Avatar, he hadn’t even seen Avatar yet. I don’t know if he has seen it ... I think, you know what, he may or may not be an a**hole, but he certainly is dangerous, and I’d love to have a dialogue with him ... He’s dangerous because his ideas are poisonous ... I couldn’t believe when he was on CNN. I thought, what happened to CNN? Who is this guy? Who is this madman? And then of course he wound up on Fox News, which is where he belongs, I guess.”

-Director , speaking at an Avatar DVD publicity event, addressing questions about the right-wing’s reaction to the film’s environmental themes. (You can listen to the audio after the jump.)

Cyrus Mocks Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato

UPDATE: You can hear Miley delivering a weak explanation for her video here.

Thank goodness I wrote that tween primer the other day. Otherwise, I’d probably have no clue who half these girls were.

When I mentioned that Selena Gomez was now linked to Nick Jonas, I forgot to mention one minor detail: Nick Jonas was previously linked to . That last piece of information is important because it’s believed to be the reason behind Miley’s recent YouTube parody.

In the following clip, you will see a video made by Selena Gomez and friend Demi Lovato. You will also see Miley and her friend, Mandy, doing their best impressions of the two girls. Do you think Hannah Montana was being funny…or was she simply acting nasty?

Whether it be on an iPhone or on home video, Miley sure does love to expose her true colors!

Sean Combs Answers LA Times

Sean CombsAn inflammatory article published by the LA Times has brought about quick response from entertainment mogul . The article suggested that Combs, along with Notorious B.I.G., Jimmy Rosemond and a promoter, knew that rap superstar Tupac Shakur was to be gunned down before the event happened on November 30, 1994.

Seriously, I like tasty entertainment gossip as much as anybody, but isn’t this old news? What was the LA Times thinking, anyway? At any rate, the story was published and now Combs is pissed. In a statement released today, Combs addressed the allegations: “This story is a lie. It is beyond ridiculous and is completely false. Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. It is a complete lie to suggest that there was any involvement by Biggie or myself. I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.” Well.
