Jared Leto Doesn’t Want to Be Your Role Model

Jared Leto insists that he isn’t a role model to his fans - and doesn’t want to be.
The musician-and-actor thinks it’s absurd that artists are automatically expected to set standards for their young followers and he insists he doesn’t feel any pressure to behave in a certain way. Instead, he thinks it should be enough for his fans to be inspired by the success he and his brother Shannon Leto have achieved with their band 30 Seconds to Mars, despite their poor upbringing.
“I can do whatever the f**k I want. I have no responsibility to uphold an image. I don’t subscribe to the notion the artist is a role model by default. Look to the idea that you could be a poor white-trash kid and along with your brother put one foot in front of the other and make your dream come true. That’s the lesson. It’s not if I failed here and there with my life, or made mistakes. To have to keep secrets would be pointless.”
Although he spends a lot of time with his brother on the road, he insists they have a fantastic relationship, unlike other music-making siblings. “It’s not an Oasis situation, it’s great! Me and my brother were just two poor, white-trash kids from Louisiana and clawed our way up the muddy banks of the Mississippi with food stamps in one hand and our instruments in the other,” Jared, 38, explained to Elle.

Lily Allen to Take 2-Year Break
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Rumors,
Despite what her rep tried to cover up, Lily Allen is quitting music!
Well, okay, maybe just taking a two-year break from it, anyway.
The “Smile” singer - who failed to renew her recording contract in September - confirmed she will indeed take a break from pop and plans to start a record label for new artists.
“My last concert is my Dizzee Rascal concert at The O2 Arena in March. That’s the last thing I’ve got planned. I’m just going to concentrate on doing some behind the scenes sort of stuff. I will take one or two years off from recording and performing music.”
While she takes a break she wants to set up a rental fashion store with her sister Sarah called Lucy In Disguise.
“It’s about making fashion democratic, that’s the idea behind it. It’s about getting really nice clothes but letting people rent them for affordable prices so they can go out and feel like a million dollars and it won’t cost them a million dollars.”
During her hiatus, Lily also plans to just “spend some time in the home” she’s built for herself.
Lily Allen Quits Music

UPDATE: Her rep is now denying that Lily is planning to quit her music career. Read more here.
Yet another actress leaves her music career to pursue her Hollywood fantasy. This time it’s “Smile” singer Lily Allen.
The British pop star made the announcement yesterday on her blog. The news comes following the release of her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You. Yes, you read that correctly—she’s calling it quits after her sophomore album.
Instead of music, Allen plans to bide her time with acting—she’ll be making her debut in a West End production of Neil LaBute’s play, Reasons To Be Pretty.
Allen was forced to take down her blog because “the abuse was getting too much” (so said her Twitter page), but here’s what it did read:
Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause). I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade. The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I’m concerned, so I don’t (at this point) stand to profit from legislation. Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which won’t be much).

Hard Working Rocker Mick Jagger
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Parties,
Much to the shock of many, Sir Mick Jagger limits his fun.
The 66-year-old Rolling Stones singer, renowned for his hell raising behavior in his youth, makes sure that he gets the balance between work and enjoyment right in his life, but still indulges his wild side on occasions: “You can’t give into temptation all your life, otherwise you’d have no through line; you’d never get anything finished. But it’s absolutely no fun at all unless you give into temptation some of your life. If you never do, you’re really boring and dull.”
Jagger, who has seven children by four different women, also says that spending a lot of time in hotels has given him the inspiration to make his homes colorful and exciting.
He added to British Vogue: “Hotel life has influenced my decorative tastes quite negatively. Because you say, ‘Right, I don’t want any brown or beige.’ Because most hotels go in for neutral colors—they don’t want to offend anybody.”
Scarlett Johansson the Singer?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Music, Videos,
While we’ve become used to seeing musicians evolve into Oscar-nominated thespians (e.g. Will Smith, Queen Latifah), I can’t recall the last time an A-list actor has successfully made their mark in the music industry. But does that mean they should stop trying?
On May 20th, Scarlett Johansson will release her first album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. Her first single, ‘Falling Down’, can be heard via her video below. After listening to it, let us know what you think. Should she stick to starring in Woody Allen films…or could she possibly have a side career in music?
