Wentworth Miller “Feeding a Fantasy” Before Coming Out
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Television, Features,
Wentworth Miller felt he was "feeding a fantasy" before announcing that he is gay.
The former Prison Break star, who opened up about his sexuality for the first time last August, says he has a better relationship with his fans now.
"I feel more fully expressed. After Prison Break, I came to grips with the fact that my public persona was in misalignment with how I actually felt. I was out to a handful of people in my twenties, and once I hit 30, I was out to family and friends. But professionally, I was feeding a fantasy. I created this air of 'We don't address that thing,'" the 42-year-old actor told Details magazine.
Asked if he felt like he was lying about his sexuality in the past, he said, "My face was on billboards, and I thought it was my job to act a certain way. But I think audiences knew to a certain degree. The people onscreen aren't the characters they're playing. They're our projection of who we want them to be. I think it's possible to have a man-crush if you're not gay or to have a crush on a guy you know to be gay if you're a woman."

Ellen Page Overwhelmed by Support
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Features,
Ellen Page admits the support she has received since coming out has "blown her mind."
The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress revealed she is gay at the Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference in February and admits she expected to be subjected to some "vicious" comments afterwards.
"I've experienced basically nothing but support, it's actually really kind of blown my mind. I thought there would be a lot more viciousness," she said.
The 27-year-old star admitted she was "afraid" to make the revelation because of the expected backlash, and she thinks it is "beautiful" so many people have had kind things to say: "Maybe that's because you're afraid and for some reason you have this perspective, because of probably your own anxiety. So to me, that's been the most beautiful thing, because it's so indicative of the change that's happened and the growth that's happening. For me, it's been basically nothing but support."
Ellen DeGeneres Named Most Powerful Gay Celebrity
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Television, Features,
Ellen DeGeneres has been named the most powerful gay celebrity in the US.
The 56-year-old talk show host, who is married to Arrested Development actress Portia de Rossi, secured the top spot on Out magazine's 2014 Power List, an annual ranking of the most influential LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) voices in American culture.
Announcing the news on its website, the publication stated, "Everybody loves Ellen, and that's one of the reasons she's regained the top spot. In March, The Ellen DeGeneres Show shattered its own 10-year ratings record in the episode that immediately followed her Academy Awards hosting gig, which also gave the awards its best ratings since 2004. And her star-studded Oscars selfie almost shut down Twitter when the pic became the most retweeted ever."
Other notable names on this year's list include fashion designers Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and Glee actress Jane Lynch.
Ellen DeGeneres Called Transphobic After Oscars Joke
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Television,
Ellen DeGeneres has been branded a "transphobic" after she made a joke at the Oscar Awards on Sunday.
The talk show host - who is openly gay - has been criticized by fans after she joked that Liza Minnelli looked like a drag queen at the glamorous event, held in Los Angeles, at the weekend. "Hello to the best Liza Minnelli impersonator I've ever seen," Ellen, who was hosting the awards, said to Liza at the ceremony before adding, "Good job, sir."
Viewers took to Twitter afterwards to hit out at Ellen for her remark. "I did not appreciate Ellen's mean joke about Liza. I found it transphobic and disrespectful [sic]," Bruce LaBruce wrote. While Greastzok tweeted, "Are we going to address the fact that ellen blatantly called liza minelli a man you'd think she would know better im extremely disappointed. i literally just sat there in disbelief when she said that i was like did she actually just say that [sic]."
However, Liza, 67, didn't appear to take offence from the joke and claims the 56-year-old comedian didn't mean "any harm" by it. "I think she thought it would be funny, but she never stopped after she said it and said 'my friend Liza Minnelli.' So I think it went a little stray on her. I don't think she meant any harm at all, and she's a wonderful lady," she told TMZ.

Madonna Reveals Death Threats
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Music, Features,
Madonna received death threats for defending ##### Riot.
The "Hung Up" hitmaker gave an impassioned speech at the Amnesty International Concert in New York last night, in which she described herself as a "freedom fighter" as she introduced the Russian group - who were jailed on charges of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred after performing a protest song in a Moscow cathedral - to the stage to address the audience at the Barclays Center.
"The right to be free, to speak our minds, to have an opinion, to love who we want to love, to be who we are -- do we have to fight for that? I've always considered myself a freedom fighter since the early '80s when I realized I had a voice and I could sing more than songs about being a material girl or feeling like a virgin. And I have definitely paid for and have been punished for speaking my mind and for sticking my neck out for this kind of discrimination. But that's OK."

George Clooney Laughs Off Gay Rumors
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Dating, Rumors,
George Clooney finds gay rumors about himself amusing.
The Monuments Men actor - who split from Stacy Keibler in July - has learned to laugh off rumors propagated by the internet about his sexuality because he doesn't want to offend the gay community by making a public denial.
Recalling the most exaggerated rumor he's ever read, he told the new UK issue of Esquire magazine, "[A headline read] 'George Clooney's gay-gay-gay.' And I said, 'I'm gay-gay. The third one's pushing it.' Well now, [according to the internet] I'm gay. You're not going [to deny it] because that's flat out insulting to the gay community."
The 52-year-old star also joked about one memorable TV appearance when he was asked whether he had ever had plastic surgery and he replied he had once ironed his testicles. "So now, long after I'm dead it'll be, 'George Clooney had his balls ironed.'" he moaned.
