Lady Gaga Battled Depression Last Year

Lady GagaLady Gaga battled severe depression late last year.

The "Applause" hitmaker admitted she had a very stressful 2013, during which she cancelled her tour to have hip surgery, parted ways with her long-term manager, Troy Carter, and received mixed reviews for her latest album ARTPOP, but is now in a much better place.

"I went through a rough time last year. I felt very taken advantage of by people I trusted. I became very depressed at the end of 2013. I was exhausted fighting people off. I couldn't even feel my own heartbeat. I was angry, cynical, and had this deep sadness like an anchor dragging everywhere I go. I just didn't feel like fighting anymore. I didn't feel like standing up for myself one more time -- to one more person who lied to me," the 27-year-old star told the March issue of Harper's Bazaar. "I really felt like I was dying -- my light completely out."

Jennie Garth Was ‘Depressed’ in Her Marriage

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Movies, Television, Divorce,

Jennie Garth and Peter FacinelliJennie Garth was depressed for years before her marriage ended.

Although it was announced in March that the 90210 actress and her Twilight Saga star husband Peter Facinelli were splitting after 11 years of marriage, Jennie has admitted the relationship was in trouble for some time.

"I spent a couple of years lying in bed and being depressed. It was that 'I can't breathe' pain. Physically I didn't look my best and mentally I didn't feel my best. I was doing everything I could to be a good mom but that was all I could handle."

However, after spending several months at her Santa Ynez ranch in California following the split, Jennie - who has daughters Luca, 15, Lola, nine, and Fiona, six, with Peter - realized she had to start living her life again. "I just looked at it like there's no way I can hide out in the county and never work again, never love again and never laugh again. The past year has been a bit of a rebirth for me as a person by shedding that negative space and all the pain associated with that time," she told People.

Nicole Kidman Battled with Depression

Nicole KidmanNicole Kidman suffered from depression after her split from Tom Cruise.

The 45-year-old actress - who adopted two children with the Mission: Impossible star before they parted ways in 2001 - blames getting married at the young age of 23 for spiraling into depression after her divorce, even though she has no regrets about their relationship.

"I got married really fast and really young. But I don't regret that because it got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period. Then when it didn't work out I had to really dig deep and find my way through depression. I have no regrets about all of it. It was all part of growing up."

The flame-haired beauty is now happily married to country singer Keith Urban, with whom she has biological daughter Sunday Rose, four, and 22-month-old Faith, born to a surrogate mother.

David Arquette Checks Into Rehab

David ArquetteUPDATE: Courteney Cox has responded. Read her statement here.

The new year hasn't brought much fortune or resolution to David Arquette just yet. The 39 year-old checked into rehab, which a source close to the actor say has been much needed, considering his recent separation from wife Courteney Cox.

The reason for admittance is surprisingly normal -- at least for Hollywood standards: "He is in there for drinking and depression, not hard drugs. Rehab was inevitable. He is dealing with a broken heart. He can't handle all the changes in his life. All his inner demons came out," the source said.

No word yet from Courteney, who has said that their separation does not mean divorce.

Maybe David ought to ask Lindsay for some advice; she ought to have enough experience with rehab facilities. She may even invite him to one of her Betty Ford parties.

Heather Locklear Seeking Treatment for Depression

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Television,

Heather LocklearI’ve said it before and I’ll say it once again: poor Ava Sambora.

Just this past April, Ava’s father, Richie Sambora, received three years probation after a DUI incident a few months ago. Now the girl’s mother, , is currently away in Arizona getting help for several issues.

The actress’ rep confirmed the news in a statement released today. “Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment.”

This announcement coincidentally comes not too long after paramedics visited the Melrose Place star’s home. Back in March, an acquaintance of Locklear’s - who was not in her residence at the time - believed the star might be suicidal and requested 911 assistance. (Heather later claimed that her friend simply overreacted.)

Well, regardless of whether she needed it then, we really hope that Locklear is getting the help she needs now.

Kirsten Dunst Opens Up About Depression

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Parties,

Kirsten DunstAlthough she was seen having a lot of fun earlier this year, would like to make something clear: her visit to rehab had nothing to do with partying.

Dunst - who is currently filming All Good Things - spoke exclusively to E! about her recent stint at a popular treatment facility. The 26-year-old said she sought help for matters not related to substances. “I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse. I went there for depression.”

While some had speculated that Heath Ledger’s death might have prompted her admittance, the actress says the decision was actually months in coming:

“It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”

Well, let’s hope Dunst was able to receive the help she needed. We’ve all seen how well Lindsay Lohan did after leaving the Lodge…
