Jennifer Hudson keeps pushing her wedding date back.
The Black Nativity star - who has four-year-old son David with fiance David Otunga - has a date in mind for the big day and despite it continually "rolling around" each year she's not planning on "rushing into anything."
"Yes, there was a date set, and that date has come around again every year. In fact, the date may keep rolling around... When I'm ready to be married, I will be married. It's that simple. Everyone should just chill. Our relationship is very strong. We're both huge family people, and I'm only going to get married once. So I'm not rushing into anything," she told Essence.
Jennifer had to leave her family behind in 2011 when she travelled to South Africa to film Winnie Mandela - a biopic about the late Nelson Mandela's wife - and although she found the separation difficult she was fully committed to telling the story of the controversial political figure. "I was like, 'Oh, my God, you want me to leave my baby and my man?' But so much was done to suppress Winnie's voice, to keep her quiet. Winnie's story needed to be told," she explained.

Apparently the Academy Award winner and her sportsman partner attempted to work through their issues around the time of William Balfour's murder trial, where he was found guilty of murdering her mother, brother and nephew.
"Jennifer started feeling like it just wasn't right. So many bad things have happened since they got engaged in 2008 that have prevented them from finally getting married, and she was worried that she was just trying too hard to make something happen that wasn't meant to be. Jennifer and David quietly called off the wedding a few months ago and she even returned her ring to him. She was extremely stressed out and processing a lot of emotions about the murder of her family after the trial ended, and she just cracked," a source said.

Jennifer Hudson, David Otunga Excited For Their Wedding

William Balfour, the ex-husband of Jennifer's sister Julia Hudson, was found guilty of the triple murders of her mother, brother and nephew last month. And with justice served, the couple now is excited for their nuptials to take place.
"That was something that was hanging over our heads for so long, and now we feel like we can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Everything is good now," David said.
In honor of their deceased relatives, the couple started the Julian D. King Fountain to donate Christmas toys and school supplies for underprivileged children. "I'm blessed to have such a wonderful woman in my life who cares for our child so lovingly. It's made me love her just that much more," the WWE wrestler, 32, said about Jennifer.
"I care for my child like my mummy cared for me," Jennifer, 30, added.

Jennifer Hudson Attends Trial of William Balfour

Jennifer Hudson did not hear the opening statements at the trial of the man accused of killing her mother, brother and nephew. The Oscar-winning actress and singer attended the first day of the trial of William Balfour at the Cook County courtroom in Chicago today, but did not listen to the statement, court spokesperson Terry Sullivan confirmed. Her partner David Otunga, however, sat in the fourth row to hear the case.
Balfour is charged with three counts of first-degree murder relating to the 2008 killings, with prosecutors claiming a gift of balloons sent to Jennifer's sister Julia Hudson threw him into a jealous rage, causing him to use a .45 caliber handgun to kill 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, 29-year-old Jason Hudson and Julia's son Julian King, whose body was found three days later. There are no known witnesses to the killing, and despite prosecutors claiming physical evidence of gunshot residue found on the wheel of his SUV, defense says it is circumstantial.

Jennifer Hudson’s Talking Newborn

Jennifer Hudson is convinced her seven-week-old baby talks to her.
The singer, who has a son, David, with fiance David Otunga, is adamant her offspring is a genius and is already trying to converse with her.
“He’s a very rare newborn. He tries a lot - he’s turning over, he’s lifting up his own head, he tries to hold his own bottle, sometimes I swear he’s talking to me, or at least trying to,” the 28-year-old said. “The other day he said, ‘Hi!’ - I swear, I’m not crazy. David was there too, and he was like, ‘He just said, Hi!’ He’s very aware.”
Jennifer is inspired to be a good parent by her own mother - who, along with the singer’s brother Jason, was killed last year by William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia.
She is determined to give David the best start in life, and is already investing in special outfits for him to wear on his first Halloween. “It’s going to be ridiculous. I can’t wait. His dad went and bought him some Halloween stuff the other night. I wish he was older so he could remember it, but this is the first one, so I have to go all out. It’s going to be great,” Jennifer explained to People magazine.
The “Spotlight” singer thinks David might even follow in her footsteps by becoming a musician. “The other night he was having a fit screaming, and someone turns on the music and he just stops and calms down. Sometimes when he cries, I try to harmonize!” she said.

Earlier this year, singer Jennifer Hudson scored an engagement ring in the theatrical version of Sex and the City. Now the Academy Award winner is having the chance to celebrate for real.
This weekend, a rep for Hudson confirmed the American Idol star is now engaged. Boyfriend David Otunga proposed Friday night during a bash for Jennifer’s 27th birthday.
Although many had thought Jennifer would eventually wed her longtime beau from Chicago (the man she acknowledged in her acceptance speech), the two broke up in late 2007 after 8 years together. This engagement to Otunga (also from Chicago) comes after less than a year of dating.
