UPDATE: Billy says that his daughter is “going to be fine.”

Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of singer and model Christie Brinkley, is undergoing treatment for what is being called a possible suicide attempt.

The 23-year-old singer/songwriter was transported to a New York hospital this afternoon after authorities received a 911 call. According to the New York Post, the woman on the phone claimed she had ingested some pills and wanted to die.

Alexa’s publicist says her client is currently in stable condition. “Her doctors are assessing her needs and that’s all we can say at this moment,” Claire Mercuri stated.

Billy Joel’s tour with Elton John was recently put on hold when John was hospitalized for the flu and an E. coli bacterial infection. It’s not clear how this family matter might affect the dates rescheduled for this February.
