The Dark Knight Rises actor admits seeing his loved ones divorce when he was young meant he didn't hold the institution in high regard but soon changed his mind when he met make-up artist Sandra "Sibi" Blazic, whom he went on to marry in 2000.
"I never planned to marry. Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn't have very healthy ideas about marriage. Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea," he said.
Christian and Sibi have a seven-year-old daughter Emmeline and the actor thinks being a father is the "best thing ever." He added to East Living magazine, "Nothing can prepare you for fatherhood. It's the best thing ever. I don't want to leave my daughter's side for one second."
While Christian is very close to his wife and daughter, the same cannot be said of his relationship with his mother Jenny or sister Sharon, whom he hasn't spoken to since a furious row at his London hotel before the UK premiere of The Dark Knight four years ago.

Despite reports claiming the couple - who have a 12-month-old son, Aleph, together - had already tied the knot earlier this year, friends say the nuptials will take place in Big Sur, California, on August 5.
"Natalie and Ben will marry in Big Sur. It's one of Natalie's favorite places - whenever she needs a break from LA she goes there," one source said.
Just 60 guests will be invited to the ceremony and the couple want the event to be as laid-back as possible. "This wedding is for their closest friends and family. It will be a very relaxed affair. They're not sending out invites. Natalie may not even buy a new dress!" the friend added.
Natalie met choreographer Benjamin on the set of Black Swan in 2009 and they got engaged in December 2010. When she won the Best Actress Oscar for the film in 2011, she paid tribute to Benjamin, calling him her "beautiful love" and thanked him for giving her the "most important role of my life." She gave birth to their first child in June 2011 and at this year's Academy Awards there was speculation they had already tied the knot as they both wore bands on their wedding ring fingers.

The reality TV star - who is currently dating Kanye West - admits she dreams of what it would be like to walk down the aisle once she gets into a new romance.
"I've always been the type to fall in love fast and, with every boyfriend, I plan out my wedding in my head," said Kim, who is currently in the middle of her divorce from Kris Humphries.
However, following the breakdown of her union to Kris last October after just 72 days of marriage, Kim says she has now learnt to slow things down. "It has taught me to take things slow," she said. The 31-year-old beauty also claims her failed marriages and relationships haven't put her off love: "I've always believed in love. I haven't always been so lucky, but I still do believe in it. Anyone would want to move on and take the lesson learned from it. I loved this person, it just wasn't the right situation for me. I try to hold my head up high and live my life."

Alec Baldwin has married fiancee Hilaria Thomas.
The 30 Rock actor tied the knot with the yoga instructor yesterday at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in New York, in a ceremony watched by their close friends and family.
"Hilaria Thomas and Alec Baldwin were married this evening at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in New York City with family and friends sharing in the joy of the occasion," friend Matthew Hiltzik told People.
The bride - who'll now take Alec's surname - wore a silk magnolia trumpet Amsale gown with cap sleeves and a keyhole back neckline accented with crystal buttons, while Alec donned a tuxedo by Tom Ford. Alec's 16-year-old daughter, Ireland, with ex-wife Kim Bassinger, was also dressed in an Amsale outfit as was Hilaria's mother.

The couple have a two-year-old son Mason together and are expecting a daughter this summer, but Scott insists the only reason he agreed to have another child was if they got married and says his girlfriend has "broke the deal" they had.
On Sunday's episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, he says, "The whole reason I had another kid with you is because you agreed to get married. You broke the contract - you broke the deal."
However, despite her reluctance to walk down the aisle, Kourtney tells Scott she is committed to their relationship. "I know that I'm indecisive but I'm not indecisive with you. I'm obviously committed to us, even though we're not getting married, and I thought that that was understood," she said.

Apparently the Academy Award winner and her sportsman partner attempted to work through their issues around the time of William Balfour's murder trial, where he was found guilty of murdering her mother, brother and nephew.
"Jennifer started feeling like it just wasn't right. So many bad things have happened since they got engaged in 2008 that have prevented them from finally getting married, and she was worried that she was just trying too hard to make something happen that wasn't meant to be. Jennifer and David quietly called off the wedding a few months ago and she even returned her ring to him. She was extremely stressed out and processing a lot of emotions about the murder of her family after the trial ended, and she just cracked," a source said.

The 19-year-old daughter of the singer and his late ex-wife Whitney Houston, missed the June 18 nuptials to Alicia Etheridge.
"Bobby Brown was desperate for her to go to his recent wedding, but she would not return his calls. Bobby got a go-between to contact Bobbi Kristina to try and persuade her, but she told them she was not going because she did not like Alicia, and that she was [busy] filming her reality show with [aunt] Pat Houston in New York," a source told US Weekly.
The source added that Bobbi Kristina's aunt Pat - Whitney's sister - is doing her best to pose as a parental figure. "She's trying to act like a mother figure. Pat does not like Bobby Brown and was pleased that Bobbi Kristina did not go to the wedding, as she feels that her father will always try and take advantage of her," the insider added.

"Agyness Deyn and Giovanni Ribisi quietly married in Los Angeles over the weekend," the 37 year-old actor's representative confirmed.
According to Crown City News, the pair were spotted "passionately kissing" while standing in line at the Los Angeles County Registrar's office and confirmed they were planning to wed when quizzed by a reporter. They also said they had been dating "for a while."
News of the wedding may come as a shock as it was only in March that 29-year-old Agyness - who split from The Paddingtons rocker Josh Hubbard in 2008 after four years of dating - said she was "all alone."

Bobby Brown has gotten married to his fiancee Alicia Etheridge.
The happy couple tied the knot on Monday in front of family and close friends in Hawaii less than 24 hours after he performed at a New Edition concert in Honolulu.
The pair's three-year-old son Cassius acted as a ring bearer and he and his dad wore matching red suits and Adidas trainers. Bobby's older children Landon, 23, La'Princia, 22, and Bobby Jr., 19, were all in attendance but 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina - his daughter with late ex-wife Whitney Houston - was not present.
Alicia looked stunning in an elegant cream bridal dress and wore her hair down for her big day, and Bobby posted a photo of himself and his new bride surrounded by his children on Instagram.
