Fiona AppleWhile Lady Gaga can publicly smoke marijuana on stage in the Netherlands, Fiona Apple gets thrown in the slammer for having hashish on her tour bus in Texas.

The 35 year-old singer's tour bus was halted at a border stop in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where authorities claim to have found hashish and marijuana in the vehicle. Apple - who is currently touring to promote her album The Idler Wheel... - was charged for possession and is currently being held at the Hudspeth County Jail.

Apple is scheduled to perform tonight in Austin, but there is no word yet as to whether or not she will have to cancel due to her legal issues.

Sierra Blanca hasn't been the most welcoming city of celebrity pot users, as Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, and Armie Hammer have all been previously arrested there for drug possession.

Whitney Houston and Denzel WashingtonDenzel Washington thinks that Whitney Houston's death is an "example to keep it together."

The 57-year-old actor believes his friend - who was found dead in the bathtub in her Beverly Hills hotel room in February - didn't realize the terrible toll her addiction to cocaine and crack had taken on her and should be a warning to all actors and musicians not to be seduced by the dark side of fame.

"Whitney was such a sweet, sweet girl and really just a humble girl. It's more of an example to me or the rest of us to keep it together. I was listening to her song 'I Look to You.' It's prophetic. Maybe I'm speaking out of line. Maybe she thought she could have one. And then the next thing you know, her body was betraying her. She didn't know that her body was aging quickly. She couldn't take it. Your body can only take so much. Some people survive [Hollywood and fame], and some people don't."

Lady GagaLady Gaga praised marijuana as she lit up on stage in Amsterdam.

The 26-year-old singer told her fans she had cut down on drinking alcohol because she prefers smoking the drug and revealed it had been hugely beneficial to her music. According to The Sun newspaper, she said, "I want you to know it has totally changed my life and I've really cut down on drinking. It has been a totally spiritual experience for me with my music. It's like saying everybody needs to take a breath and it's going to be OK."

She also joked she was going to talk to President Barack Obama in a bid to make marijuana legal in America.

The eccentric singer recently had a tattoo inked into her newly-shaved head in front of a live audience as part of the launch for her new perfume Fame. Gaga had an image of a cherub wearing a crown etched into the back of her head at New York's Solomon R Guggenheim Museum and tattooist Mark Mahoney said the design is a nod to her Italian roots. The singer - whose real name is Stefani Germanotta - put on a number of live art installation features during the evening to launch the scent, which included the singer arriving at the venue inside a replica of her perfume bottle, inside which she was asleep on a bed.

Richie Sambora with his daughter AvaBon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora says his daughter was his motivation to get sober. The rock icon has admitted that 15-year-old Ava - his child with ex-wife Heather Locklear - was a "big part" of his decision to go to rehab to be treated for alcoholism for a second time last year.

"She (Ava) was like an angel to me, man ... that was the catalyst for me actually getting sober," he told Classic Rock. The 53-year-old musician continued, "Luckily I wasn't that guy who lost his band, his family, his house and his job. I wasn't a victim."

His first spell in rehab was in 2007, after the death of his father Adam and amidst the breakdown of his marriage to actress Heather. Richie blames being in a rock band for his substance abuse problems, which included heavy drinking and eventually a reliance on painkillers.

"I was in a rock 'n' roll band! Drinking was a badge of honor," he explained.

Macaulay Culkin Macaulay Culkin

Former child star Macaulay Culkin was snapped up in New York City recently looking much better than in recent months.

Just last month, The National Enquirer published photos of Culkin looking extremely gaunt and unwell, prompting his estranged father and his wife to speak out about the 31 year-old. The tabloid alleged that the Home Alone actor - who now works as a DJ - was heavily into heroin and the painkiller oxycodone with little time left to live. His representative, Michelle Bega, denied the accusations.

Jenna JamesonJenna Jameson won't face jail time following her arrest for driving under the influence.

The former porn actress pleaded guilty yesterday to one charge of DUI following an incident in which she crashed her car into a lamppost in Orange County, California, on May 25 but won't spend any time behind bars according to gossip website TMZ.com.

She was arrested following the incident when she was asked to take a field sobriety test and failed it by showing signs of intoxication. Prosecutors in Orange County say tests showed her blood-alcohol level was .05 percent above the legal state limit.

Jenna originally pleaded not guilty to the charge and another of driving without a valid license, but the second count was dropped due to her guilty plea.

Conrad MurrayMichael Jackson's father has dropped his wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray.

Joe Jackson filed a request with a Los Angeles court asking for his 2010 suit against the doctor - who was convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of the King of Pop in November 2011 - to be dismissed without prejudice. In the suit, Joe had alleged Murray withheld vital information from the doctors and emergency room staff who tried to save Michael's life on the day he died in June 2009.

Joe claimed Murray wrongfully provided the powerful anaesthetic Propofol and a "polypharmacy" of other drugs to his son just before he died and alleged the doctor asked a security guard to clean the room in which Michael died of medication before police arrived at the Los Angeles mansion.

Macaulay CulkinMacaulay Culkin's father and stepmother fear he is "heavily into drugs."

The former child star has been pictured looking gaunt and thin, clutching his stomach and appearing to vomit in the street and his estranged father Kit and stepmother Jeanette Krylowski are worried for his health.

"Kit has seen the photo. But he can't talk about it. He just can't, because it hurts him too much. Of course he's worried, he's incredibly concerned. When I saw the photos I thought, 'Oh no, this is not good. Either he's dying of some disease or he's heavily into drugs,'" Jeneatte said.

Home Alone star Macaulay quit acting aged 14 and later had his parents blocked from legally controlling his fortune, leading to the breakdown in his relations with his father. The actor, now 31, lives a reclusive life in New York, and it has been claimed he has a drug problem and an addiction to painkiller Oxycodone, which could kill him in the next six months.

Russell Brand and Amy WinehouseRussell Brand wishes he had helped Amy Winehouse come off drugs.

The comedian - who has been sober for over 10 years after battling heroin addiction - has revealed he still feels guilty about not helping the late soul singer get clean when he first realized she was struggling with addiction.

"I got clean at the age of 27, the age Amy was when she died. Amy's death was a paradoxical unsurprising shock. I felt like I could have done something to help -- to give her the chance I had. When she died, it was this feeling of, 'Agh, I knew that was going to happen.' And I had this flickering sense that I should have done something about that. I feel a bit guilty that there was nothing I did."

The 37-year-old funnyman recalled seeing the troubled star - who was found dead in her London home last July - on the party scene and being disturbed by her behavior, prompting him to ask others to help her.

Russell BrandRussell Brand claims he "would rather be a drug addict" than be famous.

The provocative British comedian - who has been sober for more than 10 years after previously battling heroin addiction - is "jealous" of his former self and confessed he would give up his current success to get back his old life on narcotics during an interview for his new BBC Three documentary, Russell Brand: From Addiction to Recovery.

"This is when you know it's a disease. It doesn't matter that I was in that flat in Hackney and now I'm in the Savoy. I'm jealous of me then. It doesn't make a difference to me. The money, the fame, the power, the sex, the women - none of it. I'd rather be a drug addict," Russell declared after watching old footage of himself doing drugs.

Despite his comments, the Arthur actor acknowledged the devastating effects of drugs, and explained how his addiction blighted his life. "Heroin is a greedy drug, it'll take everything. First it'll take your money. Then it'll take your friends, your family, your car, your house. Then it's going to take bits of your body. In the end I used to be scoring with people that had eyes missing, limbs missing. You'll take it until it takes your life. It'll take everything until the last thing and you'll gladly give it that rather than give up the drugs," he admitted. The 37-year-old star is lobbying for society to treat drug addicts differently and the documentary chronicles his own troubled past as well as his present activism.
