On last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, we finally learned why Justin Timberlake planted that big smooch on his girlfriend earlier this week.

No - it wasn’t to prove that he and Jessica Biel were still a couple. And it wasn’t because the court action had them feeling amorous. It was really all about the celebrity competition.

Before their JumboTron appearance, the “Kiss Me” cam set it sights on several other attendees at the game. After a few smooches between elderly couples (“It got kind of weird there for a second, I’m not going to lie,” Justin said), the camera focused on another actor.

“And then they cut to Dustin Hoffman and his wife, and he planted an open mouth kiss on her that was, like, award-winning in its own way,” he continued.

So when the spotlight was aimed at Timberlake, what else could he do but top the Oscar winner? “And then they cut to us, and I was not to be outdone. So I mounted my girlfriend in front of 18,000 people.”

Looking back at the “assault situation,” would JT do it all over again? “That was one of those moments…in the moment I should have made a better decision,” he admitted.
