If you’re confused by the changing news reports, you’re not alone. But just so we’re all caught up, the official story is that no, the expected twins belonging to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have not yet been born. We think.

The hoopla began with an online story ran by Entertainment Tonight which stated that the twins had, in fact, arrived into the world. Brad Pitt‘s manager stepped up to say no, that’s false. Right now, ET is going to stick with their story, saying they want to see how it all “plays out.”

People and Us magazines have both reported that ET was wrong when they broke the story on Friday. Yesterday, attorneys for Angelina Jolie announced to the media that someone was masquerading as Jolie’s assistant Holly Goline and sending out false information.

How could a respected entertainment news organization be duped? An as-yet-unidentified person at ET received three emails from Goline’s address saying that she saw the births and all were well. Everything sort of snowballed from there.

“We are waiting to see how this story plays out,” were the words of Linda Bell Blue, the show’s executive producer. For now, however, the story has been pulled off the Web site - though no retractions have been given.

Angelina Jolie’s official due date is in August for those who are still on twin watch.
