A recent video captured by TMZ shows Latin lovely Gloria Estefan on the go and still on her tour. Estefan answered routine questions about her career, remaining friendly and keeping a smile on her face even as she walked quickly from one place to another.

The idle chitchat took a strange turn, however, when the unseen paparazzo asked the singer about a job offer she once received.

“Is it true that you turned down a career with the CIA?” 

“That’s true,” Estefan answered without a hint of irony or humor. You can view the one-minute video .

Think the question, and subsequent answer, is a bit odd? I can do you one better: Estefan isn’t at all the first celeb who’s claimed to have been tapped by the CIA.

Chuck Barris, game show pioneer and host, claimed to have been a CIA operative during his heyday in his autobiography Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. To many, this scenario seems implausible at best. Barris, known for his somewhat flamboyant showmanship and laissez-faire attitude, was nationally recognized at certain points in his long television career. The CIA has always denied Barris’s claims. They have not yet answered Gloria Estefan’s.
