Wednesday Ratings: Lost Comes Back to Life

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Lost, Ratings,
Despite a slow decline since its season debut, Lost saw a spark of life last night. Yesterday’s episode saw the return of the Oceanic 6…and the viewers. But, as we know, there isn’t anything Jack or Ben can do to topple American Idol. FOX easily won both categories this Wednesday.
8pm
- American Idol (24.4 million, 8.9/24 in 18-49) did about the same as last week.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine (2.0/6) and Gary Unmarried (2.1/5) both pulled in 7.3 million.
- A Lost* repeat (5.6 million, 1.9/5) picked up 1.2 million.
- Knight Rider (5.5 million, 1.5/4) remained steady.
- Privileged* (860,000, 0.3/1) lost 240,000.

Tuesday Ratings: Simon Baker Squares Off with Simon Cowell

Last night’s two-hour episode of American Idol faced direct competition with CBS’ powerhouse. Although Idol was the night’s top draw, the program saw a drop from last year’s outing. The Mentalist also took a numbers hit, though the blow could have been worse.
8pm
- American Idol (25.1 million, 9.5/23 in 18-49) was off 4 million from last season.
- NCIS (18.1 million, 3.7/10) remained even.
- The Biggest Loser: Couples (8.9 million, 3.6/9) trimmed off 400,000.
- Homeland Security USA (1.4/4) rounded up 4.7 million.
- 90210* (1.1 million, 0.4/1) gave up 1.3 million.

There’s nothing like an expanded Idol to give perfectly good shows a hard time. Yesterday’s two-hour Hollywood Week episode contributed to Lost‘s season-low numbers. The good news? The ABC program still had the best demos of any scripted program last night.

- The New Adventures of Old Christine (1.9/5) rallied 7.1 million; Gary Unmarried (2.1/5) attracted 6.9 million.
- Knight Rider (5.4 million, 1.3/3) picked up 500,000.
- Lost* (4.4 million, 1.6/4) was down 400,000.
- Privileged* (1.1 million, 0.4/1) added on 900,000.

CW Announces Changes for Reaper, 90210, Privileged

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, The CW,
Did American Idol‘s return have you choosing between Hollywood and Beverly Hills? If so, CW might have just thrown you a bone.
Come March 3rd, Tuesdays will look slightly different. On that night, Reaper - originally scheduled to debut on St. Patrick’s Day - will have its midseason premiere. Its early return will mean Privileged‘s season finale will come sooner that later. (The freshman series will end its first run on February 24.)
But Reaper won’t just be sliding into Privileged‘s old 9:00 time slot. That position will now belong to 90210. It’s hoped the teen drama’s new home will allow it to be free of Idol‘s shadow.
If you’re having trouble keeping up with all the programming changes, make sure to check out TV Envy’s Midseason Schedule here.
