Jennifer Lopez Fears Giggling Fits on ‘American Idol’

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez doesn't want to look silly on American Idol.

The "On The Floor" singer is worried she will be a "giggling fool" during her stint as a judge on the singing competition, because fellow panellists Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. make her laugh so much during shooting.

Speaking during an American Idol season 13 live Q&A on Tuesday, Jennifer said, "I love being between these two guys, I love being on the panel with these guys, they do have a lot of banter going on. They make me laugh, I think the danger this season is not to come off like a giggling fool, because they make me laugh so much, we really are having a good time. They're awesome."

J.Lo claims Keith is the "prankster" of the group, while newcomer Harry - who joined the panel this year - admitted he is the "mischievous" judge and tries his best to make the curvaceous beauty laugh all the time. "There is so much going on, anything to make her lose it," he quipped.

Jennifer Lopez’s ‘American Idol’ Return Confirmed

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez has been confirmed as returning to American Idol.

The "On The Floor" singer will be joined by singer Harry Connick Jr. and returning judge Keith Urban when the show comes back for its 13th season next year. The 44-year-old pop star is coming back to the panel after appearing as a member in 2011 and 2012 and will command a hefty pay cheque, thought to total as much as $17.5 million.

Randy Jackson, who retired from his role as judge earlier this year, will still appear, but as an in-house mentor to acts.

Describing the judging panel, Kevin Reilly - Chairman of Entertainment at network Fox - said, "Jennifer Lopez, the triple-threat global superstar who loves and whom Idol fans love; Harry Connick Jr., a bona-fide musical genius and fantastic Idol mentor whose honesty and expertise can help turn these hopefuls into stars; Keith Urban, a multi-Grammy-winning artist who was such a positive force on the show last season. We are also very excited to have our friend Randy Jackson now in a new role as mentor, and the captain of our team - the heart and soul of 'Idol' - Ryan Seacrest returning as host."

Nicki Minaj: ‘No Complaints About Idol’

Nicki MinajNicki Minaj has "no complaints" about her stint on American Idol.

Although the "Starships" singer quit the show after just one season, which was dominated by her feud with fellow judge Mariah Carey, Nicki insists her time on the show was a "blessing" and she loved every minute of it.

"My experience was great! It was a blessing. I had a wonderful time and I learned a lot about myself; I learned a lot about the worlds' perception of me. And I think it was a great thing for hip hop to see me transcend. It was really inspiring. No complaints whatsoever!"

While Nicki has no clue about who will take over from her on the panel, simply saying, "I have no idea, but God bless them," former judge Jennifer Lopez hasn't ruled out a return: "I don't know what's happening over there. I don't know. We will see. I'm always open to the infinite possibilities that the universe has to offer. So you never know. I was emotional about [leaving]. I just had such a good time there. It fit ... I felt like family [and] I get emotionally attached."

Jennifer Lopez Could Return as ‘American Idol’ Judge

Jennifer Lopez on 'American Idol'Jennifer Lopez reportedly wants to return to American Idol. The 43-year-old star looks set to take back her seat on the judging panel when Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj - who quit the talent show last week to focus on their music careers - leave.

Her manager Benny Medina is said to have met with show bosses to discuss her potential comeback. "J.Lo's manager, Benny Medina, was in talks with FOX even before Mariah and Nicki announced their departures last week. Benny told FOX that she does indeed want to return. They're talking. Negotiations are in their infant stages, but they're underway to get her back to the judges' table," a source said.

FOX bosses are eager to claw back viewing figures after this season's finale saw ratings drop to 14.2 million, which is the lowest they've ever been since the show started in 2002. They believe a revamp of judges could be what is needed - including losing Keith Urban. "It's unlikely that this season's fourth judge, Keith Urban, will also stick around. The show needs an overhaul," an insider said.

‘American Idol’ Planned to Swap Mariah Carey with J-Lo?

Jennifer Lopez and Mariah CareyAmerican Idol producers secretly plotted to replace Mariah Carey with Jennifer Lopez. Bosses were keen to see the return of "On the Floor" singer Jennifer midway through the show's current season but, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter, once they were threatened with legal action by Mariah's team they backed off.

The insiders added a search has already begun to replace Mariah, Nicki Minaj and possibly even the entire judge's panel - which also includes Randy Jackson and Keith Urban - for the next season.

Mariah was a huge signing for the show, but has proved less popular with viewers on the show than Jennifer, who appeared in the previous two seasons, was. Mariah's comments and criticism have been criticized as passive and disengaged, and she has been overshadowed by Nicki on the show.

However, another source says research has shown Nicki's performance on the show has not been as popular as expected, adding, "The core viewer is a Midwestern, Southern, older woman who is threatened by Nicki's aggressiveness."

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez will guest star on lesbian drama The Fosters.

The former American Idol judge is producing the show for ABC - which features a same-sex couple and their family - and although they have ruled out an appearance by Jennifer in the first episode, she is keen to take part later in the season.

Jake T. Austin, who plays a foster son to the couple, told E! News, "She was maybe thinking about doing a cameo in the pilot, but there was some apprehension in deciding how early they wanted to feature someone like her into the show. So she'll definitely come on but at this point we just don't know when."

Jake is excited about the show, which features Teri Polo and Sherri Saum as the lesbian couple, because he feels it is "very timely." He explained, "It's very current, it's very timely and it's something that's needed, especially on a platform like ABC. The thing is it's a family show and it's relatable. It's not targeting any specific demographic. We're just trying to tell a story and to appeal to a mixed crowd."

Jennifer Lopez Felt Awkward Judging American Idol

Jennifer Lopez on American IdolJennifer Lopez felt awkward judging American Idol.

The sexy singer - who recently announced she was quitting the reality TV show - is thrilled to be back on stage for her Dance Again world tour and says she feels far more comfortable performing to thousands of fans than she ever was judging others on the show.

"I'm a professional! And as fun as it was to take a break from everything and do that for a little while, this is where I belong. I'm so much more at ease on stage than I was sitting in that chair," she told The Los Angeles Times.

The curvy Latina star has credited the show with inspiring her musical comeback in 2011 and is thankful for the experience. "Idol was a catalyst for all this movement in my life. Talking to the contestants and sharing what I've learned over the years performing live and singing in the studio - it got me back to those things. All of a sudden I realized I knew all this stuff," Jennifer enthused.

Jennifer Lopez Quits American Idol

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez has quit American Idol.

The 42-year-old singer has confirmed her time as a judge on the talent show is over after two seasons to concentrate on other projects, but she insists she would've liked to have continued on the show for the rest of her life if it didn't mean giving up other things. In an emotional chat with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest on his On-Air radio show today, she said, "Something had to give, something has to give. I was really dreading this phone call with you. I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that you do, and you have to pay attention to that, too. I could keep doing Idol for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things. I feel like we had an amazing run."

But Jennifer - who starred alongside fellow judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, who yesterday confirmed he will be stepping down from the role after two series - hasn't ruled out returning to American Idol as a mentor next season: "No matter what you guys need over there, I'm always going to be here. I feel there's that tie there. I just can't be there every day like I was for the last two years. It's just one of those special things in your life you don't want to walk away from."

Jennifer Lopez Hints at American Idol Exit

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez has strongly hinted she could quit American Idol.

The 42-year-old singer has been a judge on the talent show for the past two series, and while she has "enjoyed" being a panelist on the program "so much," the brunette beauty admits it's "maybe time" to leave to free up her schedule for movie roles and a return to performing.

"The truth is ... I've just enjoyed it so much, but I am thinking it's maybe time for me to go and do other things I really love to do like films and ... performing. This has been a great journey, but then again I really love the show so, all I can tell you is what I'm thinking."

Jennifer - who is on the panel alongside Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson - admits it will be a "heartbreaking decision" if she does decide to quit American Idol, but she has been forced to put a number of other projects on hold to judge on the show: "[Returning to Idol has] been on my mind a lot, as you can imagine. You know, I signed on to American Idol to do one year, and ... I wound up doing the two years. And now it's like, 'OK, do we continue on this journey?' I've loved it so much. I enjoy the show so much. I enjoy just the whole process of the show and the whole thing. So it's a tough decision either way. But I have to say that there are so many other things that I do, and that I put on hold for that. At the end of the day, whichever way, it's a heartbreaking decision if I'm going to have to go."
