It’s Official: Shannen Doherty Joins 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, News,

Shannen DohertyNow that we’ve had a few weeks to get used to the idea, it’s time for us to fully accept it. Brenda Walsh is coming back.

Just this weekend, CW confirmed that Shannen Doherty is returning to the zip she was once famously booted out of. In the announcement, we learned that Doherty will come back to West Beverly after she is asked to guest direct a school play.

Those who recall her stint in ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ may be surprised to learn that Brenda’s character has since become a “successful theater actress, splitting her time between London and New York.” So successful, in fact, that she has already moved on to directing her own productions. (Hence, the invite from her alma mater.)

Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty and Casting for 90210

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, The CW, Gossip, Rumors,

90210

Years have passed since the show rocketed to success (and was subsequently canceled), and yet is still dominating entertainment news. If you’re longing to see some familiar faces on the fall spin-off of the popular teen series, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re hoping to see Luke Perry on the new show, you will be.

“It’s that 90210 time of year,” Perry laughed with reporters as he answered questions about the spin-off (though he was actually promoting an unrelated project with the Hallmark Channel). Luke Perry has already stated that he will not - that’s right, will not - become Dylan again on camera. According to his own comments, Perry does not really wish to do the series without mastermind Aaron Spelling, famed TV producer (and sire of Tori Spelling) who passed away in 2006.

90210 News: Shannen Doherty May Return

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip,

Shannen DohertyJust last month, Lori Laughlin said it was unlikely 90210 fans would be seeing Shannen Doherty again. “I don’t think Shannen will. No. I don’t think anyone wants to touch that.”

Well, I hate to be the one to break it to ya, Lori—but it looks like someone does want to ‘touch that’ after all.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the producers behind the CW spinoff are currently in talks with Doherty about joining the ever-growing cast. What’s keeping her from signing on the dotted line? She reportedly wants to approve her storyline and paycheck first. (As if she should be turning any money down these days.)

Twin Peaks’ Amick Visits Gossip Girl

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip,

Madchen AmickWhen we last left , Nate - whose brief romance with Vanessa had just ended - was seen bonding again with Serena. Was this an indication that the two former lovers were going to reunite, or would they eventually find themselves back together with Blair and Dan?

While the outlook is still unclear for Miss van der Woodsen (), it looks like Mr. Archibald (Chace Crawford) will have soon have another woman enter the picture—and this one will come in the form of a cougar. According to E!, Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks) will be heavily involved in Nate’s world. She’ll also have some “surprising connection” to another new player on the show. I’m sure the Gossip Girl’s thumbs are all atwitter now.

You can look for Amick to begin her several episode-arc starting September 1.

No Spinoff for Gossip Girl

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, Rumors,

Gossip Girl's Taylor MomsenWho would have thought that would be the subject of an erroneous rumor?

Yesterday, reports were spreading around the internet about a possible new drama for the . According to the buzz, Josh Schwartz’s show was already prepping itself for a spinoff. If you believed the word on the street, Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen) was the golden girl bound to her own gig.

Those who follow the GG books know Humphrey eventually winds up in a whole new series called The It Girl. Her character at some point elects to go to a new boarding school after a string of socially embarrassing moments.

But given Gossip Girl‘s own struggle to find an audience, I personally thought this decision to branch off seemed a bit hasty…and it turns out I wasn’t the only one.

Tori Spelling Joins the 90210 Cast

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, News,

Tori SpellingIt’s official. Finding decent work after 90210 is apparently quite hard.

Just weeks after Jennie Garth was confirmed for the CW spinoff comes word of another alum’s return. Realizing the Bed & Breakfast business was just not going to pay the bills, has confirmed she will have a part in the new show. (According to the rumors, she begged to be included.)

Although Garth will have a recurring role as a West Beverly guidance counselor, Spelling (Donna Martin) will continue where she left off: in the fashion industry. Her character - who once co-owned a boutique with Kelly Taylor - will reportedly have “one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills.”

While we still have a few months until ‘s fall premiere, there’ll be plenty of opportunities to see Tori Spelling this summer. The third installment of her Oxygen show - now titled Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood - will premiere on June 17.

Interviews with CW’s 90210 Cast

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, Gossip, Video,

Well, we already know they look the part - but will CW’s new 90210 cast actually do the spinoff justice?

In the video below, the actors talk about their new roles and give us a hint as to what we should expect.

Although they promise to “take this show to a whole new level,” this clip feels very similar to things we’ve seen before—from the production value straight down to the character description. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; I just don’t think they should set the bar too high for themselves.

Rob Estes Joins 90210

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, The CW, News,

Rob EstesAnyone paying close attention to 90210‘s recently revealed cast photo might have noticed someone missing.  (Someone other than Jennie Garth.)

Up until now, the spinoff has been without the show’s central reason for existence: the patriarch!  The West Beverly alum who moves his family from St. Louis to become his alma mater’s next principal.  The guy heading this drama’s version of the Walshes.

While there wasn’t anyone from the original cast suitable to play this character, the producers were able to snag someone from the old FOX family.  Rob Estes, a former Melrose Place star, has just been cast as Harry (Harry???) Mills.  Estes will star alongside (his show wife) and play father to Shenae Grimes and Tristan Wilds.

CW has apparently worked very hard to flesh out this update with some decent eye candy.  While I’ll always have very fond thoughts of them, Jim and Cindy Walsh never looked this good.
