CBS easily won an evening that saw a large number of reruns. A victory night not come so easily next week when two more ABC shows (Women’s Murder Club, Men in Trees) begin.
8pm
- Up against a repeat of Pushing Daisies (4.3 million), Ghost Whisperer improved up on last week’s premiere and won the hour with 8.7 million viewers (2.4/8 in the 18-49 demo).
9pm
- With 8.3 million viewers, CBS’ Moonlight (2.2/7 in 18-49) was the hour’s winner.
- The critically-acclaimed Friday Night Lights (6.5 million, 2.2/7) gained 200,000 viewers from last season’s finale and tied in the key demos.
- A rerun of Private Practice drew 4.9 million; a second-showing of K-Ville saw 3.3 million.

This weekend’s ABC premieres made it clear audiences prefer their dramas soapy on Sunday nights.
- Although Desperate Housewives (19.3 million viewers, 7.4/17 share in 18-49 demo) and Brothers & Sisters (13.3 million, 5.1/13) were both down from last year’s premieres (23% and 15% respectively), both shows earned their best numbers since Nov. 26th.
- Cold Case (13.5 million, 3.4/8) and Shark (11.4 million, 2.7/7) did improve upon last week’s premieres, though Shark’s numbers were lower compared to last year’s time slot holder (Without a Trace).
- The Simpsons (8.4 million, 4.2/11), King of the Hill (7.2 million, 3.5/9) and Family Guy (7.9 million, 4.2/10) all underperformed their numbers from last Sunday.

FOX’s ‘Nashville’ Moved Off Schedule
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX,
Well—we can’t exactly call it a cancellation at this point….so let’s just call it a slow death.
FOX’s new series, Nashville, is temporarily being set aside after just two airings. The reality show (and I use ‘reality’ to describe this show like I would use it to describe Laguna Beach) followed a group of music industry hopefuls trying to make it big in Nashville. Unfortunately, viewers weren’t following them.
Refusing to admit they have the first fall flame-out, the network is simply putting the show on hold until ‘sometime’ in October. Re-runs of K-Ville will temporarily fill its time slot until two-hour episodes of The Next Great American Band take over on October 19th.
Ironically, some critics believe K-Ville may be the first show canceled this year. If that’s the case—what will backup Nashville then?

No Big Surprises on FOX’s Fall Line-Up
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, Hell’s Kitchen, American Idol, House, News, Ratings,
For a change, FOX is currently enjoying the view from the top. At the beginning of the year, the network was number four (falling behind all of their major competitors). Today, it’s the number one network in the land – thanks largely to the success of American Idol, the reality show that in the past six years has become the bread and butter of the “bad boy” network. FOX is hard at work trying to maintain ratings supremacy, and has finally unveiled their upcoming fall schedule…days after the competition showed off theirs. What’s on the schedule for FOX?
No less than ten brand-new shows are scheduled to come to the network, though only three of these will be reality series. In the network’s earliest days, surprise hits like Married, With Children gave them staying power, though hardly a competitive edge. The Simpsons resurrected FOX in the days when warm, fuzzy, family drama was ruling other stations. But it wasn’t until the runaway success of American Idol that FOX became a serious ratings contender. Any show that can beat CSI has got to be worth something, right? Will the new fall schedule contain another big hit surprise? FOX certainly hopes so.
