Sarah Michelle Gellar Returning to TV

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, CBS, News,

Sarah Michelle Gellar

From bloodthirsty vampires to dangerous mafia hitmen.

Former Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar will return to the small screen with the new CBS pilot Ringer, a drama where she’ll star as a quasi-fugitive hiding out from the mob.

And if that doesn’t excite you, maybe we ought to tell you this: there’s two of her.

Gellar will play a twin who has assumed her sister’s identity, and it seems the split-screen shot of the two of them standing shoulder-to-shoulder is inevitable.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Video,

When it comes to CBS reality shows, contestants either get smacked by a watermelon -- or get watermelon-sized welts.

What will we see when Live to Dance officially launches tonight? Well, like the audition rounds of So You Think You Can Dance, a few embarrassing -- and painful -- moments.

On tonight's evening's episode -- the show it will begin its regular Wednesday time slot starting tomorrow -- a dancer gets noticed by the judges for all the wrong reasons. Watch the video and try not to wince.

First Look: Paula Abdul Lives to Judge Dancing

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Video,

In just a few short weeks, the judge we all know we missed (for some reason or another) will be back in a center seat.

Paula Abdul, who made news when she decided to leave American Idol, will make her return to reality television on January 4. But this time, she'll be on CBS ... and she won't be focused on singing.

Although Live to Dance will differ from most of the dance competition programs out there -- the series welcomes contestants "in any age group" and from "any form of dancing" -- the show will still feature Abdul's unique ... style ... of ... judging. (Notice the pauses?)

Check out the new promo above.

2011 Golden Globe Nominations (TV)

Boardwalk Empire

The Golden Globe contenders for the 2010-11 season were officially announced Tuesday morning in Beverly Hills by Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel and Blair Underwood.

Last year's Best Comedy Series winner, Glee, lead all television programs with a total of five nominations. Five series -- 30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, The Good Wife and Mad Men -- tied for second place with three nods each.

Here are some of the notable omissions/inclusions from this year's list of nominees:

  • The Good Wife was the only non-cable series to be recognized for Best Drama.
  • The Walking Dead replaced that other horror series (True Blood), giving AMC two nominations in the Drama category.
  • The limitations of the Best Supporting Actor category meant only two acting noms for the cast of Modern Family.
  • Jennifer Love Hewitt has found herself pitted against Claire Danes ... and Dame Judi Dench.

The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards -- hosted again by Ricky Gervais -- will air Jan. 16 on NBC.

Barbara Billingsley, Famous TV Mom, Dies

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, ABC, CBS, News, Video,

Barbara Billingsley, one of TV's legends, has died. Billingsley was better known to TV audiences as June Cleaver, the mom on Leave it to Beaver. That classic TV sitcom ran on CBS in 1957, then on ABC until 1963.

“People still talk about it and write letters, telling how much they watch it today with their children and grandchildren,” said Billingsley several years after the show had been canceled. Though it was still very popular in 1963, the show called it quits after the sixth season because the two youngest stars, Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, wanted to move on. “We knew we were making a good show, because it was so well-written,” Billingsley stated in the same interview.

$#*! My Dad Says Poses DVR Problems

Curious to know whether the CBS series $#*! My Dad Says is as hilarious as the Twitter feed it’s based upon? Then you might want to double-check your TiVo now.

Although network execs thought symbols would be the smartest way to get around the profanity in the comedy’s real title, they probably didn’t take into account DVRs when they came up with the name. Even if viewers could remember the exact way CBS chose to arrange the characters, they probably wouldn’t be able to find them on their recording devices.

This is why CBS has now provided us with instructions.
