After American Idol: Syesha Mercado

Syesha Mercado

Most of the media was treating Syesha Mercado’s elimination as a foregone conclusion before the results episode of aired this week. Now, everything is going as planned (and predicted) while Mercado makes the press circuit. Recently, Syesha spoke with Entertainment Weekly.

The questioner actually put it to her like this: “The whole country seemed to know it was going to be a David versus David finale. How was it, being on stage when you knew your fate?”

I wouldn’t have been able to find fault with if she called a halt to the interview and walked off in a huff right then and there, but she didn’t. “Well, I didn’t read the press. I didn’t get the memo,” she joked, “I heard rumors that it was going to be a David-Syesha finale.” She clarified, “David Cook,” a moment later.

Syesha Mercado

“I had a feeling I was going home,” Mercado admitted, “especially after the bad commentary I got for two of the songs I did.”

As to the future, Syesha hopes to stay busy. “I want to do everything. I want to make an album, do Broadway, act in films, open restaurants, homeless shelters, Lupus foundations. I want to do so many things.” It sure sounds like it!

She also added a little mystery and intrigue into the interview. When asked about her choice to sing “Fever,” Mercado gave a rather interesting reply: “There were a couple of songs I had my heart set on that were songs I felt from the heart. I felt that if I had sung those songs I would have touched a lot of people and changed people’s opinions of what I could do. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the opportunity to do them.” And…what songs were they? When asked, Syesha answered, “I’ve been told not to say.”

Ree-eee—ally? What’s that about?

Syesha Mercado finished by saying, “I want to do everything, and I can do everything.” I saw the way she powered through when she didn’t even have a voice to talk with, and I believe her. Can’t wait to see you again in the lime lights, Syesha.

You’re funny!  And I think you’re right!  I think Syesha is the greatest!  Her fan club website is for sale, http://syeshafanclub.com and I would totally buy it if I knew how to run a website!  I think she’s going to have a lot of fans for a long time to come once she finds the right person to “produce” her. She didn’t need to win Idol to “win.”

Is this a blog or a website?  Either way, I like it!
