We give you a first-look at the new Apple iPad Smart Case in this episode. The iPad Smart Case is similar to the Smart Cover, except that instead of just covering the front display of the iPad, it actually covers the entire body, front and back. It's available in six colors for $49 from the Apple Store, and we give you a look at how it works. Also be sure to read our iPad Smart Case review, and check out the iPad Smart Case photo gallery as well.
This week Apple released the iPad Smart Case, a polyurethane product that covers and protects both the front and back of the the iPad shell. Compatible with both the iPad 2 and the new third-generation iPad, this is the first full case that Apple has offered for its popular tablet, and it's being sold for $49. The Smart Case seems to make a lot of sense in theory, but how does it fare in practice? Read on as we answer that question in our iPad Smart Case review.
Apple has announced the new Smart Case accessory for the new iPad. The Smart Case is similar to the Smart Cover that's been available since the iPad 2 shipped, but it protects both the front and back of the new iPad shell. It's available in six colors, and can even be personalized with free laser engraving, a first for an Apple accessory. The Smart Case also features the familiar tri-fold design that the Smart Cover has, allowing you to comfortably use the iPad to type and watch media. The interesting thing about the iPad is that so many people use it in so many different ways, that there are a myriad of different case designs available. For us, we like a case that doubles as both a low stand for typing, and an upright stand for viewing video content. That’s why we generally liked the Apple iPad Case (see our Apple iPad Case video review) that the company released alongside their tablet. The folks over at Cyber Acoustics thought they could improve upon Apple’s take on the case stand with their iCover Leather iPad Cover/Case (IC-1000BK) accessory. It’s leather for starters, which is a nice touch, but is it worth it? Our thoughts after the break.
So, we’ve already hit you with our in-depth iPad review when the device launched, but many asked for a video review as well, so here you are! In this episode of Bleeding Edge TV, we give you our thoughts on the iPad, we show you some of the new visual touches that you’ll find on the device that aren’t present on the iPhone or iPod touch, and we give you a look at a bunch of the iPad apps that we’ve been enjoying. Even better, we also show you Apple’s official iPad case, and the iPad dock as well. Take a look at the video, and see what you think. When Apple finally revealed the iPad to the world back at their January 27th event, it was a long time coming for many an Apple fan. After almost three years with the iPhone around, everyone figured it was time for Apple to unleash a full-sized, proper tablet. However, time and time again the rumor mill was incorrect, as Apple Event after Apple Event came and went with nary a mention of a tablet device. So when the announcement finally came, and when pre-orders finally were being taken, many prepped to grab the iPad on day one. That day came on April 3 with the launch of the Wi-Fi iPad in the United States, which you can now purchase at the Apple Online Store.
The hype has been off the charts, so let’s step back for a minute and examine this thing. The iPad sits somewhere between the iPhone juggernaut and the ridiculously popular MacBook. Many have said that it is simply a “big iPod touch” and nothing more. Apple has called it “magical and revolutionary.” Who’s right?
