Barnes and Noble nook vs. Amazon Kindle: Size comparison shots

B&N nook next to Amazon Kindle

Hot on the heels of our Barnes & Noble nook unboxing gallery, we got a ton of requests from you guys asking us to compare the nook directly against the 2. So we put the nook right up against Amazon’s Kindle 2, and shot some photos. In a nutshell, the nook is smaller in length and width, but is a little but thicker than the Kindle 2. I personally don’t think one has an advantage over the other in terms of size, but hey, check out the nook vs Kindle size comparison gallery, and judge for yourself, mmkay?

Just from looks I would pick the Nook every time.  The big screen makes the difference.

Now that being said I don’t know that I would ever use one of these.  I am looking forward to the full comparison review.

I think the bezel makes the screen sizes look different. The reading area on the Kindle and nook are exactly the same size. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used the exact same part for their screens, in fact wink

Ah I guess you are right I didn’t take a look at them close enough.  I am very interested to get a hands on with them.  I don’t know when I will have a chance.

I am looking forward to hearing what you think of them.

P.S. I just shot you an email about the site.  It seems to be working fine right now. Might just have been a hiccup.

The Kindle looks incredibly ugly compared to the sleek sexy Nook. Barnes and Noble took e-reading to another level.

Bye bye Kindle

My impression is that the Kindle 2 has a much lower contrast screen than the Nook.  You had them side by side.  Did you not notice this?  Or am I crazy.  The type on the nook looks so crisp against that lighter screen while the Kindle has dull gray type against a medium gray background.  Tell me if I’m wrong.  I didn’t get a chance to compare them side by side.

I’ve been looking into these and I prefer the Kindle 2. Nothing against the nook, I just like that the kindle is so thin, but it won’t slip out of my hands. I prefer the general look of the kindle, too. A helpful visual comparison, thanks.
