Season premieres: County Jail, Lie to Me, Trauma

  • Trauma (NBC, 9pm):  “A medical drama focusing on the first-responder paramedics at a San Francisco hospital and the extreme dangers they face to save lives.” It’s like a “very special episode” of ...every…week.
  • Unwrapped (FOOD, 9pm):  “The making of bacon ice cream at Delaware s Woodside Farm Creamery.” Hot bacon sundaes can be topped off with bacon bits and/or bacon grease.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “The lab is attacked and new CSI Jesse Cardoza is taken hostage along with four other people.” Unfortunately, the newbie wasn’t eligible for his hostage compensation benefits yet.

Friday Ratings: NBC Makes a Week End Mark

Up until now, CBS has traditionally dominated Friday nights with its Ghost Whisperer/Numb3rs combo. But could Jay Leno potentially change that? Although we’re still a week away from finding out, the program got off to a nice start this weekend. Primetime’s new 10:00 show helped give NBC a win in both the viewers and the demos.

  • (2.0/7 in 18-49) averaged 7.4 million over two hours.
  • Approximately 5 million watched the finale of (1.0/4).
  • Ghost Whisperer* (1.1/4) pulled in 4.6 million.
  • The 2009 (0.6/2) attracted 2.2 million.
  • Smallville* (0.6/2) dialed up 1.6 million.

Season premieres: Accidentally on Purpose, The Big Bang Theory, Castle, CSI: Miami, Dancing with the Stars, Heroes, House, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men

  • House (FOX, 8pm):  “Season 6 begins with House as a detoxing patient at a mental hospital. He concocts an escape plan aided by his roommate and a visitor named Lydia (Franka Potente).” Run House Run!
  • How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm):  “The friends discover that Robin and Barney are secretly a couple.” He couldn’t stop talking aboot the girl he hooked up with last night.
  • Dancing with the Stars 9 (ABC, 8pm):  The opener begins with 16 celebrities including Lindsay Lohan’s ex (Aaron Carter), Shannen Doherty’s ex (Ashley Hamilton) and the ex-House Majority Leader (Tom DeLay). At least one of these guys has been disgraced.

Monday Ratings: ABC Wilts Next to CBS Repeats

Reality hit ABC’s reality programs yesterday evening. Without the help of Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelorette was just another dating show. CBS’ repeat-filled lineup was actually the victor in both the viewers and the demos last night.

  • Jon & Kate Plus Eight (TLC, 9pm):  Season premiere. “Jon and Kate discuss recent controversies surrounding their family.” Is anyone else feeling really uncomfortable right now?
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Joe lands in San Diego with a new job, upending the DuBois family and forcing Allison to contend with his absence.” The family will later reunite when they make their move to CBS.
  • Keeping Up with the Kardashians (E!, 10:30pm):  “Kourtney and Khloe both experience heartbreak when they deal with ending relationships.” Being abruptly dumped by Donald Trump has has been difficult for Khloe.
  • The Tonight Show (NBC, 11:30pm): kicks off Jay Leno’s final week. I wonder if he’ll have any interesting stories to share.

Medium Moves to CBS

Medium

The showrunners at are feeling quite large today.

One day after receiving a cancellation notice, the cast and crew of the NBC series were given a reprieve. The Patricia Arquette vehicle will now be heading over to CBS.

Being booted by the Peacock might have actually been the best thing for the show. Medium will now get a plum spot right after Ghost Whisperer on Fridays. Although that position is currently occupied by , the police drama is expected to return sometime midseason.

Monday night saw a heated competition between three different networks. Although ABC was a winner with the viewers, FOX (3.9/11) won a hard-fought battle in the demos over CBS (3.9/10). (ABC and its 3.6/10 wasn’t that far behind.)
