After five years on air, NCIS is still showing a lot of life. Although the show had its largest audience ever, FOX still came away with the evening’s best numbers:
8pm
- NCIS (18.3 million, 4.1/11 in 18-49 age group) also had the hour’s best demos.
- Bones (9.6 million, 3.6/9) was up almost 750,000 from last week.
- A 2-hour episode of The Biggest Loser (3.3/8) drew in 7.9 million.
- Cavemen (4.9 million, 1.7/5) and Carpoolers (5.5 million, 1.9/5) locked up 4th place.
- Beauty and the Geek (1.3/3) took a backseat with 2.6 million.
9pm
- Although bested by NCIS, House (18.1 million, 7.7/18 in 18-49) still had the evening’s best demos.
- Dancing With The Stars (16.9 million, 3.8/9) was down about 1.5 million from last week.
- The Unit (11 million, 3.0/7) was up about 1/2 million.
- Reaper (1.0/2) racked up last place with 2.4 million.
10pm

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Daytime, Drama, Kids, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Dancing With The Stars, House, Ratings,
I have a feeling after last night’s great numbers, we’ll still be seeing Linus sitting in that pumpkin patch next year. Although FOX’s Tuesday lineup had the best demos, the classic Halloween special helped ABC attract the largest audience.
8pm
- Although it was slightly down from last week, NCIS (16.3 million, 3.3/9 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience.
- It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (11.4 million, 3.8/11) easily outperformed the usual Cavemen/Carpoolers numbers.
- Bones (8.9 million, 3.2/9) took a backseat to Snoopy.
- The Biggest Loser (6.3 million, 2.8/7) and The Singing Bee (5.8 million, 1.7/5) both declined from last week.
- Beauty and the Geek (2.3 million, 1.1/3) was down almost a million.
9pm
- At 18.8 million, Dancing With The Stars (4.3/10 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience.
- House (17.2 million, 7.0/17) still outperformed in the demos.
- The Unit (2.8/7) came in third with 8.1 million viewers.
- CW’s Reaper (2.5 million, 1.1/3) was about even with last week.
10pm
- Thanks to a repeat on NBC, Boston Legal (11.2 million, 3.0/8 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s best audience.
- A repeat of Law and Order: SVU (8.7 million, 3.0/8) still came in second.
- Surprisingly, Cane (8.1 million, 2.0/5) held on steady from last Tuesday.

Is ‘The Next Great American Band’ A Reality Hit?

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, House, Gossip, Ratings,
Reality TV has been good for the FOX network. The success of American Idol completely changed the once last-place channel. Now, FOX is determined to find repeat success with the one formula that works for them (besides cartoons). After the summer series On The Lot disappointed execs with low ratings, FOX blazed into the fall season with several new reality shows, two of them musically-themed. To balance out this act of bravery, FOX chose a known star to head the third reality show. Now, viewers can watch Gordon Ramsay in Kitchen Nightmares on Wednesdays, after catching a rare successful drama for FOX on Tuesdays (House). Thursdays are jam-packed with game shows…so, is anyone even sticking with FOX until Friday, the very end of the week?
The network had better hope so, as this is the time slot where the much-touted The Next Great American Band two-hour debut extravaganza was shoved at the end of a packed TV week. The ambitious docu-style reality drama Nashville is already kicked off the schedule, leaving FOX’s musical hopes riding solely on finding a great American band…or, at least, viewers.

MONDAY (10/22)
**No new episode of Ellen today. She’s still recovering from all the doggy drama**
- Live With Regis and Kelly (ABC, syndicated): Jimmy Kimmel will be pulling double-duty this week as he fills in for Regis Philbin in NY and tapes his show in LA. (I’m guessing we’ll still be seeing him on Dancing With The Stars as well.) If we’re lucky, Guillermo will fill in for Gelman too.
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): The show returns tonight after being preempted by baseball last week. What? You don’t care either?
- Heroes (NBC, 9pm): Many fans have been waiting for Kristen Bell’s debut tonight. Unfortunately, she’s one more new character I’ll have to ignore.

ABC’s Cavemen may have seen decent ratings last week, but it appears the experiment’s novelty may have just worn out. Meanwhile, House scored another ratings victory for FOX (followed by NBC, ABC, CBS and CW)

Cavemen Not Extinct Yet

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, ABC, FOX, House, Ratings,
Highly talked about through the summer, ABC’s Cavemen got off to a pretty good start on Tuesday, a night of the week that’s already filled with stiff competition. The premiere scored 9 million viewers, a far cry from the huge numbers of FOX’s House, but enough to keep the show going for a few more episodes. Cavemen earned enough viewers to become the second most-watched show in its time slot, highly impressive for a show that was spawned through a series of popular TV commercials. Critics bashed the pilot episode, which was not shown for the Tuesday premiere, and advertisers weren’t eager to get involved. ABC ended up selling thirty-second spots for a mere $100,000. Nine million viewers say the Geico-inspired Cavemen are entertaining enough for them, giving ABC the right to drum up prices and thumb network noses in the face of criticism and competition.

The Ratings Race Is On

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, American Idol, Desperate Housewives, Heroes, House, Ratings,
Ratings rivals CBS and ABC have been slugging it out this fall, each trying to jockey for the top slot in the ratings race. CSI dominance usually secures CBS at least one top ten ratings win, but this year ABC’s reality smash hit Dancing with the Stars may boogie right on up to the top. Or…will it? Last week the show scored more than twenty million viewers, but fewer tuned in to watch the results. This week, only fifteen million tuned in to the celebrity two-step. Between the two broadcast networks, eight of the top ten ratings list was dominated. Shows like Desperate Housewives, CSI: Miami, and Without a Trace secured the viewers – more than fifteen million each. NBC, the network that struggled in last place a year ago, almost managed to get 17 million viewers for Heroes. But at least one more network will attempt to bring in viewers, perhaps topping them all in the end.
