CBS Fleshes Out Cast for NCIS Spinoff

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, CBS, Gossip,
Production on a planned NCIS spinoff is moving full steam ahead.
So far, three names have already been confirmed for CBS’ latest hour of crime. Louise Lombard (CSI), the series’ lead female, will star as a a former major in the military police. Notes from the Underbelly‘s Peter Cambor has been cast as an operational psychologist while Daniela Ruah will play a young investigator with a degree in forensics and criminology.
Two well-known actors are also in talks for the other leads. Chris O’Donnell (Batman & Robin) is currently negotiating for the role of Callen, a “chameleon” who can easily transform into different identities. Captain Sullenberger to Visit CBS Programs

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Prime Time, Talk Shows, CBS,
UPDATE: CBS’ The Early Show will also devote its entire broadcast on Monday to the Hudson River landing.
After weeks of minimal public appearances, Capt. Chelsey Sullenberger is ready to tell his story.
The heroic pilot of Flight 1549 will have his first sit-down chat with Katie Couric on Sunday, February 8th. Although he was once scheduled to speak with Matt Lauer about that Hudson River landing, CBS somehow managed to steal that exclusive right out from under NBC’s foot.
Two days after that 60 Minutes interview, “Sully,” along with the rest of his US Airways crew, will hit up the Late Show with David Letterman.

Meet the Cast of Survivor: Tocantins

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, CBS, Survivor,

Although it may take us a while to get to forget Survivor: Gabon‘s Sugar, it’s already time for us to welcome a new cast of characters.
In just three weeks, 16 castaways - ranging from a former SWV singer to an army sergeant - will tackle the reality show’s latest installment. Even though we’ve already reached the 18th season, there are certain personalities that will always remain: the girl who claims she’s “not what you think,” the “snappy” one with “no patience,” the one who claims he knows “how to get inside people’s heads,” the intellect “who went to Yale” but will conceal that fact, and the “old woman.”

Spinoff News: Gossip Girl, The L Word, NCIS

Gossip Girl
: Apparently when executive producer Josh Schwartz said back in June that there were “no plans for spinoff at this moment,” what he really meant was: “We aren’t planning anything for Jenny Humphrey.”
After months of speculation, CW finally announced that they will be creating a backdoor pilot for what could possibly be a Gossip Girl spinoff. (This would be similar to what Shonda Rhimes did with Private Practice.) If the test run is successful, the new series would not involve any actors from the sophomore show, nor would it even be located in New York.

How I Met Your Mother Cast Rewarded for Ratings

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Ratings,

Should someone be thanking Britney Spears?
Not too long ago we were wondering if How I Met Your Mother was going to be renewed. Now CBS is rewarding the show’s cast members for sticking around.
As a thank you for boosting Monday night’s numbers, the network has just given all five actors - Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan - substantial raises. Their pay bumps, retroactive to the start of the season, amount to approximately 2-3 times their previous salaries. They will now reportedly rake in anywhere between $90,000-$120,000 per episode.
In addition to a larger check, the five will also have a longer stay. Their old seven-year contracts were extended to eight.

How I Met Your Mother’s 50 Reasons to Have Sex

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, CBS, Gossip,

If you were one of the many who saw last week’s How I Met Your Mother, you might still be chuckling about several great moments from “The Naked Man” episode.
Those who don’t currently follow the program missed out on Barney’s conversation with Ted about the best nude man pose. (A nicely-toned Neil Patrick Harris is demonstrating the “Burt Reynolds” up above.) Fans of HIMYM also learned several of Lily’s 50 Reasons to Have Sex. (She was trying to prove to her husband, Marshall, that there were other reasons out there besides “love.”)
Now, thanks to that handy tool called MySpace, we’re getting our chance to see the full list compiled by the MacLaren’s Irish Pub crew. You can see the Top 50 after the jump.

Tuesday Ratings: Noteworthy Numbers for Historic Evening

Although CW decided to broadcast new episodes of 90210 and Privileged last night, we’re going to ignore that network for just this week.
While it would be hard for anyone to deny the significance of last night’s presidential election, how many people were actually tuned in? Here’s some of the highlights from yesterday’s political coverage:
- Approximately 71.5 million watched the events unfold over 14 different networks. That’s a 16% increase from 2000’s contest between George Bush and Al Gore (61.6 million) and a 21% increase over 2004’s battle between Bush and Kerry (59.2 million).
- Of the 71.5 million, 38.13 million saw Barack Obama become the President-elect via the four major networks.
- ABC‘s 13.1 million viewers bested the competition Monday. (That was the Alphabet network’s first win since 1996.) NBC had been holding the title since the 2000 election.
- CNN‘s 12.3 million actually beat CBS and NBC for 2nd place. That was the cable channel’s largest audience in its 28-year-history. That number almost doubled what the network saw in 2004.

Sarah Palin Reportedly Set for Oct. 25 SNL Appearance

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Rumors,
UPDATE: The guest appearance has now been confirmed for Saturday, October 18.
It appears as if the rumors are about to become true.
According to the New York Post, Sarah Palin will be visiting 30 Rockefeller Center on October 25. This news backs up an initial report made by the Chicago Sun-Times last week.
Although it’s still unclear what Palin will do (will she be spoofing Tina Fey after all?) on Saturday Night Live, the Alaskan governor is currently in talks about several different sketches. Rehearsals for her NBC appearance are scheduled for next Friday.
Palin’s SNL debut will come approximately one week after John McCain makes his own late-night waves. This Thursday, the Arizona senator will offer his best apology to Dave Letterman on the Late Show.
