On Gear Live: 2025 Mercedes G-Wagen AMG G 63 Review: The Classic SUV Finally Hits Its Peak

Heidi FleissGiven all the controversy - and attention - garnered last season, it was only a matter of time before a new installment was greenlighted.

According to the New York Post, stars who may seize the opportunity to get some help include pop singer , basketball star Dennis Rodman, Skid Row musician Sebastian Bach and former madam Heidi Fleiss.  Although some of these names could clearly benefit from the program, would not comment on any of the casting rumors.

Production on the next season of Rehab is scheduled to begin in June.

Moonlight cast

Yesterday, we named those shows recently cut by the major networks.  Now we know which CBS programs will be added to that dreaded list.

The freshman dramas receiving the ax include Moonlight and Shark.  Although fans of the vampire series did their best to campaign for the cult fave, their passion simply didn’t equate to ratings.  (I’m sure the network feared they’d end up with another failed Jericho in their hands.)

Meanwhile, those programs being spared include: How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Rules of Engagement and The Unit.  It seems might be good for something after all…

Breaking Bad, Bryan CranstonIf you only watch AMC for the occasional classic movie, you’re missing out on so much more.  The channel’s first original drama series, , won the a Golden Globe for Best Drama back in January.  One week later, Breaking Bad was introduced.  And let me assure you, that show is just as worthy of praise as was its predecessor.

The show, created by Vince Gilligan (X-Files), centers around a chemistry teacher (Malcolm in the Middle’s Bryan Cranston) who produces crystal meth on the side.  When he is diagnosed with terminal cancer, he secretly tries to raise funds for his pregnant wife and handicapped son.  Fortunately for fans, the intriguing concept - which ended after only seven episodes - has just been renewed for another thirteen.

Breaking rivals anything that can be seen on the major networks and should satisfy anyone who loves a -esque tone.  Those who weren’t able to watch the drama during its original run should not fret.  You can easily catch up via iTunes before Season Two begins.

Britney Spears, How I Met Your Mother

Even though Sarah Connor has managed to get itself off the renewal bubble, there’s a list of others shows out there still aiming to get their golden tickets.

Believing there’s nothing wrong with a bit of promotional overkill, How I Met Your Mother will be looking to once again milk something out of their celebrity cash cow.  (No pun intended.)  According to People, a source reports that will indeed make another appearance on the comedy.  Her first stint on the CBS series helped give the show its highest ratings ever.

Now if this latest publicity stunt doesn’t get the network to renew HIMYM once and for all, I don’t know what will.  Will Jason Segel need to go full frontal?  I’ve seen .  I know he’d do it.

Sarah Connor cast

Although the network hasn’t officially declared it ‘renewed’, TV Guide is reporting that will be returning for the 2008-09 season.

Despite all the money and promotion devoted to the show’s premiere, a ratings drop-off has had execs wondering whether the series was too costly an investment.  Apparently they’ve since decided it would be silly to try and create something else from scratch.

Good news, fans.  You now have something to look forward to next year.

Big Love castAs if I didn’t have enough TV to watch during the fall season…

Earlier today, I was informed that two of my reasons to love the summer have sadly been taken away from me.  Thanks to the writers’ strike, several programs normally enjoyed during the off-months will now have to fight for space on my Tivo much later this year.

Shows affected by the production delay include , Entourage, Flight of the Conchords and new drama True Blood.

I’m not sure what to do with myself.  I guess I might actually have to take a vacation now.

Christian SlaterLast week, ‘s programming chief got a jump start on the competition by revealing his company’s calendar for next year.  In addition to the fall lineup, the programming schedule through Summer 2009 was revealed.

Of all the interesting notes, I actually found it quite refreshing to hear that the network will be working to keep the 8 o’clock time slot a “family hour”.  (In other words, they’ll put the most family friendly things they have - whether they really should be watched by children or not - during that portion of the evening.)  After the kids are put to bed, NBC will then kick things up a notch with an hour of “blockbuster” programming then sixty minutes of adult-themed content.

King of the HillWell - it turns out the number 13 can, in fact, be lucky for some.

FOX has just announced that one of its comedic mainstays, , will be returning to the airwaves fall.  Not only will fans be getting a whole new 13-episode set of the program, the upcoming season will mark the show’s 13th year on air.

Although more half hours may later be ordered, the network apparently has what it needs for the time being.  The series did not suffer a production shortage due to the writers strike; most of the segments had already been written prior to the work stoppage.

The Sunday staple is positioned only behind as the longest-running animated series ever.  The 2008-09 year will mark the 19th year for Matt Groening’s creation.

Moonlight cast

Just a few weeks ago, CBS finally put an end to one of their struggling sophomore shows, .  Now supporters of Moonlight are hoping that their cult favorite will not see that same fate.

Although the program is scheduled to return with four new episodes come April 25, the drama has not yet landed on network’s renewal schedule.  Realizing a peanut-filled campaign helped to bring back the vehicle, die-hard fans are once again banding together to keep their new fave from bleeding out.
