On Gear Live: Apple’s M5 Chip Made the MacBook Pro Unstoppable!

Supernova  While watching this week’s elimination round on Rock Star:  Supernova— I found my attention drifting from the supposed drama on-stage.  Yes, I was curious to see which singer would receive the axe.  (Though, at this point….there is still a lot of dead-weight on that show).  But for me, the real nail-biter was up in those judge’s chairs.  Who cares which singer is the best person to front that soon-to-be-short-lived-band?  The most important question was:  Which judge was hating life more?  Was Dave Navarro secretly wringing his boa because of his breakup with Carmen Electra?  Or was Tommy Lee sinking lower in his seat because his ex (Pamela Anderson) is once again engaged to Kid Rock?  Some may say that Lee’s history with Pam is so 10 minutes ago while others have already linked Navarro to a new woman.  I admit, it’s a close judgment call….but I’m voting for 1-866-TOMMY-LEE.  You can’t just marry a woman twice and not want her back a third time.

WE Women's EntertainmentI’m convinced that a reality show can be based on anything these days. Case in point – Unwrapping Macy’s – set to premiere on the Women’s Entertainment (WE) network on September 20th. According to Executive Producer Glenda Hersh, “It’s an adventure with the people who make Macy’s happen every day.” The series was filmed at Macy’s in New York, Florida and Los Angeles. Of course, WE is targeting a female audience with this latest reality show, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the store’s marketing, public relations, fashion and event-planning departments. As an added bonus, viewers will see how the Thanksgiving Day parade and Macy’s catalog are planned. The question is: will women be interested enough in the ins-and-outs of retail to tune it?

Daniel BaldwinEarlier today, Daniel Baldwin was hospitalized for back and neck injuries after he crashed his car into two parked cars in Los Angeles. The crash resulted after an officer saw Baldwin driving at more than 80 mph and weaving through traffic. The police spokesman reported that “The officer tried to catch up to the Thunderbird, lost sight of it momentarily and came up to a traffic collision where the T-bird had crashed into two parked vehicles. The Thunderbird pushed one of the vehicles about 20 feet, and that was a Hummer.”

Baldwin, age 45, is of course the brother of Alec, Stephen and William Baldwin, and has appeared on Homicide: Life on the Street and Celebrity Fit Club. Baldwin faces a number of charges, including reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. Police will press additional charges if he is found to have been intoxicated at the time of the incident. No other injuries were reported.

Rob_and_AmberHaven’t their 15 minutes expired already? Variety announced that Fox Reality is moving forward on their first docudrama series, titled The Rob and Amber Project. Apparently, viewers can’t get enough of these reality superstars—or at least that’s what Fox is hoping! Rob and Amber got their start on Survivor: All Stars and made it to the final two, where Rob popped the question on the season finale to Amber, the winner. They then moved on to The Amazing Race, where they proved to be tough competitors – then on to their own TV special about their wedding. The Rob and Amber Project will show their move to Las Vegas, where Rob hopes to become a professional poker player. Fox Reality has ordered 10 half-hours, with the premiere expected in January.

Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra class=Apparently being on a reality show with your spouse is bad for the relationship. Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra are following in the footsteps of Kathy Griffin, Nick Lachey &  Jessica Simpson, and - most likely - Britney Spears and Kevin Federline.

The couple, who starred in MTV’s reality series Till Death Do Us Part: Carmen + Dave, have announced that they are “amicably separating”. Their publicists would not give any more specific information, but Navarro revealed earlier this year that the marriage was suffering due to their busy work schedules.

Electra is most famous for her role on the hit show Baywatch and has recently appeared in films Date Movie and Scary Movie 4.  Navarro, former member of Janes Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers, currently stars on the reality show Rockstar: Supernova.

Both have been married before although Electra’s first wedding is undoubtedly more famous. She wed Dennis Rodman in 1998, only to have the marriage annulled after nine days.

The Amazing Race The 10th season of The Amazing Race promises to showcase more diverse teams than on previous editions. This season includes 12 teams (rather than 11), and includes a Muslim team, an Indian-American couple, an amputee, and a father and his lesbian daughter. According to host Phil Keoghan (incidentally, the BEST reality show host!), “The range in this cast is remarkable… we’ve never had such a broad spectrum of people.” This year, the Emmy-winner moves to Sundays starting in the fall, with the teams beginning in Seattle and making their first stop in China. The race lasts 30 days, with contestants covering 40,000 miles—traveling to locales such as Mongolia, Kuwait, Vietnam and Madagascar. Zap2it.com features the complete list of teams.

Paris and Nicole
Oh what are we going to do about those two? Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie - the spoiled stars of The Simple Life - are at it again. Or rather… they’re at it still. The Simple Life is being renewed for a fifth season, despite the fact that Hilton and Richie are not on speaking terms.

The former best friends both starred in the show’s fourth season - which is currently airing on E! – but did not appear in any scenes together.

The fifth season may have the reality-show going back to its original format, forcing the girls to reconcile or to learn how to act well enough that they can pretend they’ve reconciled. Hilton claims she can act (although anyone who saw House of Wax might argue otherwise). She recently admitted that her Simple Life persona is nothing like the real her.

She hasn’t been shy about how the “real her” feels about Richie. She has described her costar as jealous and attention-seeking, claiming that Richie has “let the fame go to her head”. However, many attribute the rift in their friendship to rumors that Richie hosted a viewing of Hilton’s sex tape One Night in Paris; Hilton has been quoted as saying, “Nicole knows what she did”.

Hilton recently hinted that she would be willing to end the feud if Richie would apologize for “being mean”. Richie states that they are no longer friends because they “grew apart”.

Paula MeronekPaula Ann Meronek, a cast member on MTV’s The Real World: Key West, was arrested for taking a bite out of her boyfriend early Sunday morning. Meronek, 25, allegedly bit her boyfriend, John Alyward, several times after he refused her admittance to their shared home in Cromwell, NY.

She was arraigned Monday on a misdemeanor assault charge by the Cromwell police department. Alyward was charged with disorderly conduct.

A spokesman for The Real World‘s producers said that the arrest will not affect the show, as filming is complete and the season is already airing weekly on MTV. Meronek has been described by MTV producers as “damaged” and was known on the show for her erratic behavior when intoxicated.

Meronek faces a potential year in prison and is due back in court on August 11.

Kevin FederlineOh please don’t let it be true! More bad news for those of us with ears…

Although no official deals have been made, Kevin Federline is likely to use his wife’s connections to force his way into the music business. The infamous “Mr. Britney Spears”, who starred with Spears in the short-lived reality series Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, is allegedly working on getting a recording contract. The talentless freeloader and aspiring “rapper” has been meeting with Spears’s label, Jive Records.

His hip-hop “career” was jumpstarted with the single, “PopoZão,” which was released online to mixed reviews. By “mixed reviews” of course, I mean that some people hated it and some people simply made fun of it. “K-Fed” later claimed that the single was just a joke and that when people hear his real release they would be blown away. Okaaaay.

He plans to release his first album, Playing With Fire, in August. God help us all.
