Before They Were Stars: Tina Fey’s Bank Commercial

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, 30 Rock, Commercials, Video,
UPDATE: Make sure to check out Paul Rudd as a Bat Mitzvah DJ here.
As painful as Liz Lemon’s commercial for “1-(900)-OK-Face” was to watch, we at least knew that clip wasn’t real. Unfortunately for Tina Fey, this spot for Mutual Savings Bank is.
After watching the video, keep one thing in mind: The things you did - or wore - in 1995 won’t necessarily prevent you from earning multiple Emmys in the future. (Until that time, you can revisit the classic 30 Rock spot after the jump.)

Oscar Nominee Terrence Howard Joins Law & Order: Los Angeles

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Prime Time, NBC,
Terrence Howard may have lost his role in Iron Man 2, but he has a new chance now to bring bad guys down.
NBC just announced that the Oscar nominee will be joining their new series, Law & Order: Los Angeles, on a part-time basis. The Hustle & Flow actor will share the installment’s district attorney role with Spider-Man 2‘s Alfred Molina.
As L&O fans know, this job-sharing arrangement is similar to how Law & Order: Criminal Intent handled its detective duties.
The Peacock also revealed today that Corey Stoll (Salt) has been added to the cast as Detective T.J. Jaruszalski. Stoll serve as partner to the previously-announced Skeet Ulrich.

While ABC prepares for the debut of Christiane Amanpour on This Week, the network says goodbye to another colleague.
Martin Bashir, a co-anchor on Nightline for five years, has announced he is leaving for MSNBC. The British journalist, who has famously done interviews with Princess Diana and Michael Jackson, will front a daily afternoon program on the cable channel. He will also contribute pieces to NBC’s Dateline.
Bill Weir, the current co-anchor of Good Morning America‘s weekend edition, will now share late-night duties Terry Moran and Cynthia McFadden. (Weir’s morning replacement has not yet been announced.)
“Since joining us in 2004, Bill has done some of our most innovative reporting from every conceivable venue, both as co-anchor of weekend GMA and for all of our other programs and platforms,” said ABC News President David Westin.
Bashir will start his new MSNBC post in September. Meanwhile, This Week with Christiane Amanpour will kick off on Sunday Aug. 1.

- Behind the Music (VH1, 8pm): “Usher is profiled through interviews and archival clips. The R&B star discusses his relationship with TLC’s Chilli.” I’d hate to say things are still “chilly” between them, but…

- True Beauty (ABC, 10pm): Season finale. “The three beauties left are paired with celebrities to party the night away. They then don’t get to sleep it off, but instead must film a commercial about Las Vegas.
