Lindsay Lohan in Talks to Host SNL

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Gossip, Video,
UPDATE: Insiders are saying that Linds won’t be appearing on SNL after all. Funny that the whispers arrived on the same day reports about two failed drug tests did.
Lindsay Lohan’s dance card is filled with post-jail and post-rehab commitments until November, but her schedule will open up a little just before the new year. How will she celebrate her extra free time? Why not with a hosting stint on Saturday Night Live?
Linds is reportedly in talks with the famous variety show to perform as the host on the December 4 episode. Lindsay Lohan isn’t the most popular person the show could snag, but the situation is rife with comedic possibilities.
The actress has already proven that she’s capable of poking fun at herself. Lohan hilariously hosted the show on May 1, 2004. Back then, she was sweet seventeen and about three years shy of her first rehab stay.

TV Talk: High Interest in Law & Order: LA, Low Numbers for HBO

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Sports, Cable, CBS, FOX, HBO, NBC, DVR, Ratings,
-Which new shows are you looking forward to checking out? According to a TiVo poll, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Hawaii Five-0 are the most-anticipated programs of the upcoming season.
-When is an Oscar nominee not considered “famous enough”? When her name is Carey Mulligan. The Wall Street 2 star says she would love to be in Glee, but she’s apparently not recognizable enough for a cameo.
-Has HBO lost some of its appeal? Despite shows like True Blood, Entourage and Hung, the cable channel’s second quarter audience numbers were the lowest in four years. New series Boardwalk Empire begins this Sunday.
-Sunday Night Football, though, is doing just fine for NBC. This weekend’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins scored the best overnight ratings for any opener—on a Sunday or Monday—in 13 years.

No Final Movie for Heroes

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, NBC, Heroes, Cancellations,
I guess Hayden Panettiere won’t need to grow out her hair anytime soon.
According to a source, a movie that could have given Heroes fans closure won’t be happening after all. The project had been considered a possibility when the show was canceled after Season 4.
Earlier this summer, Tim Kring spoke to EW about the movie’s status.
“No decision has been made,” the show’s creator said. “But the Heroes brand is an extremely broad premise. It was a premise about ordinary people, an undisclosed number of people all over the world, who were waking up to these extraordinary abilities. Any number of stories could happen around that. We never posited a single ending or a single premise ... We told stories in volumes that had a beginning, a middle, and an end. Those volumes could go on and on and on with many different characters.”
NBC has not yet confirmed the cancellation report.

Leno vs. O’Brien: Let the Ratings Decide

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, Ratings,
This summer is historic in television history: it’s the lowest-rated summer on record for The Tonight Show, which was hosted by Conan O’Brien this time last year.
Conan enjoyed the coveted hosting gig for only seven months before NBC made the well-publicized decision to replace him with Jay Leno … the host O’Brien formerly replaced.
Jay Leno is currently pulling in about 3.8 million viewers per episode, only 1 million of which are in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. But, though he may not be beating O’Brien in ratings, Leno is still getting more viewers than his late-night rival David Letterman - by about 22 percent.
