Why DWTS’ Derek Hough was Hospitalized

If you watched last night’s broadcast of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, you may have wondered about a comment host Samantha Harris made backstage. After Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough did their Samba, it was revealed a trip to the emergency room almost kept Hough off the show.
For those keeping track, that would make two hospital visits in approximately two weeks for Julianne’s sibling.
Before last week’s show, Derek tweaked his neck while rehearsing for a routine that didn’t involve his celebrity partner. Unsure if he was going to be able to continue, Jonathan Roberts was asked to work with Shannon on the Viennese Waltz in the interim. Fortunately for Elizabeth and Hough, the couple reunited in time to earn a 28 during that Monday’s show.

This time around, the charming blonde was suffering from an issue of the internal kind. Just hours before yesterday’s taping, Hough reportedly threw up numerous times in a very short time span. While he believes it may have simply been an issue of food poisoning, his doctors wanted to make sure it wasn’t a stomach ulcer. While he was still waiting to be evaluated, Roberts was once again tapped to possibly step in. Although he was only notified at around 1 o’ clock, Jonathan watched tapes of Derek to quickly learn the choreography in time for the 2:30 dress rehearsal.
Unfortunately, an impatient Hough didn’t feel like wasting precious time at the hospital and opted to leave before all his tests had been completed. He wanted to come back and rescue Elizabeth for what he felt was an extremely difficult routine. Question is: Would it have mattered anyway? The judges were so disappointed with her lack of hip action they only gave her a 23.
So what do you think will trip him up next week? Painful blisters? A botched spray tan?
