Fifth generation Dodge Viper video showcase
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Corporate News, Transportation, Videos,

It’s big, it’s loud, we’re pretty sure it spits out Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth as it rolls by—the long awaited, fifth generation, Dodge Viper.
Unlike most sensible automakers who are seen tuning down their cars, replacing motors for batteries and what not, Dodge decided it’d be a fitting time to have a proper V8 roam the streets once more. Yet, this wasn’t a simple redesign, but an overhaul of the Viper posters that hung on our walls as children.
So how do you welcome the new Viper? Through YouTube videos, of course! Follow the jump to watch them all.

Audi focuses on ugly past to sell sexy 2012 A5
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,
Audi has been around the block a few times. It's had hit or miss models throughout its history, as has any manufacturer. However, some of Audi’s models were not only a miss, but ugly too. Case-in-point, is seen in the video above. Though its was only a concept car, it was still rather odd-looking.
Uglyness aside, Audi is trying to bring your attention to its streamlined features as it strives to keeping its cars aerodynamic. In the video, we see Audi’s concept transform into the a A5, which is sexy by all means, but wonder if it would have been better for them to use the A7 instead? That aside, we hope that you enjoy the clip as much as we did!
Video: Semi trucks and ice don’t play nice
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,
The band Underoath once said, “It’s dangerous business walking out your front door.” It appears that statement definitely rings true if you happen to drive a semi truck with any regularity. Any semi driver will tell you that the job has its perks, but it also comes at a high cost of danger. At any level, driving a semi is risky business, but adding snow to the mix just takes it to the next level.
Don’t believe us? Check out the dramatic video above, caught in Norway, as a semi and a tow truck go rolling off an icy overpass. Yeah, like we said, it’s risky business.
From what we hear the driver is in stable condition, only suffering a few broken bones.
Scion FR-S packing heat with a 5.0 Liter V8

Well for those that wanted it to happen and those of you that said it would happen, here it is, the Toyota 86/Scion FR-S built into a drifter. But to everyone’s dismay, the heavy mods have happened sooner rather than later.
The T86 features great low end driving dynamics, but lacks the same excitement on its top end; and its acceleration leaves much to be desired for seasoned drivers. It wouldn’t take long for the aftermarket to find a remedy for this with ECU reflashes and chips, but a complete engine swap one would see later down the road.
Well that’s not the case for the T86, as Manabu "Max" Orido's Toyota GT 86 popped a 5.0-liter V8, from Lexus’s IS-F, into his T86. Though we wish this was a factory option, a video for now will have to suffice. Enjoy!
Google’s self-driving car brings a blind man to Taco Bell
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Google, Transportation, Videos,
We’ve had a lot of chatter about self-driving cars here at Gear Live, but apart from doing a few hot laps around a closed circuit and quick drive around the Autobahn, we haven't really seen a practical application. But our thoughts have changed, as Google has produced a self-driving Prius, which wouldn’t have been our first choice, but that’s not the point.
Google has developed a brilliant application of the autonomous car. As we reported before, the autonomous car was aimed for traffic improvement and flow, but Google believes that the technology could be used to assist the blind and those unable to operate a vehicle on their own.
The video follows Steve Mahan, as he gets around doing his daily routine. The tasks may seem trivial to us, but to a person of limited mobility, the possibilities are now endless.
Video: New iPad 4G LTE speed test
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Broadband, Features, Product Reviews, Videos, Wireless / WiFi,
Now that we've gone over the new iPad Retina display and the iPad Dictation feature, we're ready to focus on the next big feature of the 3rd generation Apple tablet. The introduction of 4G LTE into the iPad is a bigger deal than many realize, because now you have speeds that rival many home broadband connections, wherever you are. The 3rd generation iPad can even be used as an LTE hotspot, for no additional cost, if you pick up the Verizon Wireless model. In this video, we compare our Wi-Fi network speeds (we have FiOS) against the 4G LTE Verizon Wireless connection. As you'll see, it's impressive.
Video: iPad (3rd generation) Dictation review

We gave you a look at the new iPad Retina display in our last video, and now we're here to show off the DIctation feature. Dictation allows you to speak your words to the iPad while it listens and attempts to turn your words into text typed into the app your using. As you can see in the video, Dictation is easy to use (it's right on the keyboard, next to the space bar,) but it doesn't always get everything perfect. You also need to remember to speak your punctuation when using the feature. It's definitely convenient, and easy to go in and clean up any mistakes after the fact. Get a look at how it all works in the video above.
Video: A look at the iPad (3rd generation) Retina display

The new iPad (3rd generation) was released two weeks ago, and in that time, Apple has already sold millions. The biggest and best feature of the device is the high resolution Retina display. When you compare it against the original iPad and iPad 2 displays, it's apparent that it's a big step up from what we've had before. In fact, it's the highest resolution display ever shipped on a portable device. We give you a look at the iPad (3rd generation) focusing on the Retina display in this, the first in a series of videos where we will focus on a major feature of the new iPad.
Standing mile record broken by the trio from Hennessey
Posted by Andrey Malskiy Categories: Transportation, Videos,
The guys over at Hennessey have always had a knack for speed, power, and record breaking. So it doesn’t come to us as surprise that they broke the standing mile record down in Texas. The trio used their Ford GT to reach the record setting speeds at 257.7 mph.
Beneath the wildly wrapped GT lies the beast that powered it all: a twin-turbo charged motor. Their previous setup included a supercharger as well, but that was scrapped and swapped with a more efficient twin turbo setup. What the video above to see the record setting run from the cockpit.
