Hollywood Stands United Behind New President-Elect

“God knows I fought hard for the other side,” The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck admitted on-air. “Today is a victory for this country,” she even managed a smile. “No one lost today.” Her comments, a shade different than her rabid Republican rantings of episodes past, are similar to the words of other celebs who today are celebrating a page in history. Who, today, are celebrating the stunning victory of a man named Barack Obama. “I haven’t felt this good,” she poured out seemingly heartfelt joy for the new President-elect, the first Democrat to get into the White House since Bill Clinton - and she isn’t alone.

Laugh at Poll Results with Comedy Central

As part of the Indecision ‘08 political coverage which has been raging all year long, Comedy Central will pit its two most popular late-night hosts against each other in a poll results special scheduled to air Tuesday night.

MSNBC, CNN, FOX News and all major networks, as usual, will also be offering post-poll coverage (and perhaps announcing winners early, as they are wont to do). Comedy Central’s hour-long special will surely provide more laughs than other networks, and the comedy duo of Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert is destined to create plenty of hilarious moments.

We may want to cry over the results come tomorrow night, but Comedy Central will try to make us laugh instead…come what may.

A little nervous about voting? We won’t mention the term “hanging chad” (oops) but poll experts suggest that you not only bring your ID with you but take a picture of your ballot as well. Video the Vote goes one step further and suggests you record your experience to share with other citizen journalists, indy filmmakers, and media pros. You can upload them on the site and they will cross post to YouTube. We would love to see them, too! Now get your butt out there and do your American duty!

Celebrities Threatening to Defect

Not that long ago, comedienne Tina Fey (who is now for ever linked to her classic and spot-on Sarah Palin impersonation) said she would leave Earth if the McCain administration takes over. She’s not the only celeb who’s threatened to turn their back on the U.S. if the war hero and hockey mom make it into the White House - though her words were perhaps a little stronger than most.

Susan Sarandon, Michael Stipe (REM) and Stephen Baldwin have all made similar statements. Now, recording artist Seal and model Heidi Klum are clamoring that they, too, can’t imagine living in an America where John McCain might rule.

Barack Obama Makes His Statement

In a highly presidential fashion, democratic White House contender Barack Obama bought up thirty minutes of network TV time (on several stations, no less) to directly address the American public he hopes to win over. It was all very State of the Union - and incredibly politically savvy. But did his message strike a chord with viewers?

Replete with clips of Obama’s more moving speeches and statements from fellow Democrats along with high-ranking CEOs and others, the half-hour infomercial put Barack right into the living rooms of U.S. voters. There was no stage, there were no other candidates jockeying for position or good sound bites; there was no Sarah Palin or John McCain. It was, all in all, one of the best aspects of the entire campaign season thus far.

Cuddle the ‘08 Candidates - Cabbage Patch Style

Limited edition Star Wars action figures. The Princess Diana beanie baby. Every so often, there comes along a must-have toy that’s made for those who remain kids at heart. But they’re not called toys - they’re called collector’s items, and that makes obsession okay. For those who love the idea of the ungettable, Christmas just came early. Believe it or not, the minds behind Cabbage Patch Kids actually found a way to make John McCain look cuddly.

Four new dolls have recently been unveiled by the famous toy line, one-of-a-kind creations that some collectors would stoop to almost any means just to own. Your favorite candidate may not win the upcoming election…but they could score a spot in your curio cabinet.

That’s right: there’s a Sarah Palin Cabbage Patch Kid doll. She’s wearing a red power suit, fashionable glasses and a big smile. Her arms seem spread open, almost as if to offer a hug. It’s every bit as adorable as buyers might want it to be.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm): “The Gosselins get ready for a trip to Hawaii, where Jon and Kate will renew their wedding vows.” This time around, they’ll be paying to feed 8 more guests.
One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm): “Lucas’ second novel proves successful.” Let’s see if we can say the same for Chad Michael Murray‘s second wedding.
My Own Worst Enemy (NBC, 10pm): “Edward’s trip to Mexico to gain intel on Russian weaponry doesn’t go as planned.” Nothing about this show is going as planned.

Opie and the Fonz Endorse Barack

This time Andy, Opie/Richie, and Fonzie are involved in getting you to vote. Listen, if it’s good enough for Arthur Fonzarelli, then you know it’s something you want to do, too.
