Four Found Guilty in Pirate Bay Case

Pirate Bay logoA Stockholm court found the 3 founders and one “patron” behind The Pirate Bay guilty of collaboration to violate copyright laws. They were sentenced to a year in jail and must pay $3.6 million in damages to media companies. The site allows free exchange of movies, music, games and software with its 3.5 million users but does not host them. As yet, there is no order to shut down the site and the defendants plan on appealing the judgment.

Nintendo Launches DSi

DSiNintendo finally debuted its DSi yesterday and it will arrive in Europe this Friday. The 3rd generation game dual screen system has already sold over 2 million units since it was launched in Japan last November. Not only can you play games, there are two cameras, a microphone and tools that help create and share content. The DSi costs $169.99 while the DS Lite will continue to be available for $129.99. Their site offers games, including freebies if you buy the portable game system online, a club, newsletter and more.

Remake News: MacGyver, It, The Bodyguard and More


MacGyver: Now you didn’t think those MacGruber skits would lead nowhere, did ya? After seeing a renewed interest in the former ABC series (thanks NBC), New Line has decided to pounce on the golden opportunity. The story about a resourceful agent (Angus MacGyver) who improvised during critical moments will now be turned into a motion picture. No casting decisions or script have been completed.

Inamo Interactive Touch Panel Tables

Blacksheep, a London architecture and design office, created the restaurant Inamo’s tables with projector and computer above each one. Customers utilize the touch panel to order food, change the look of the table, check out the kitchen webcam and play games. The interactive furniture can also call up local information on services like booking a cab. You can see it in action here. Someday soon we hope this becomes more commonplace, however if games are involved, there may a considerable waiting list.

Taito Releases Space Invaders and Cooking Mama

Square Enix’s Taito has released two apps for the iPhone 3G/iPod touch. Space Invaders has all the fun of the original version, bonus content, and can be controlled with the motion sensor or other touch methods. Cooking Mama features both old and new recipies. You can find each at the App Store, with prices $6.99 for the cooking game and $4.99 for the ETs. The company says that there will be other apps available down the road.

The Katana application lets you pull out the sword, then swing your iPhone/touch at the evil-doers until they are defeated. You can get a copy at the App Store for $1.99.
