HikaruSony Ericsson’s Hikaru Walkman-branded phone has been outed with plenty of high-end features. The slider has a 2.6-inch display, an 8 megapixel camera, 8GB memory and Walkman player 4.0. Add to that stereo speakers, dedicated music keys and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Plans are to release the Hikaru phone before Q2 although no exact date or price has been mentioned, but our best guess is that will be high-end as well.

Modu Jackets

Modu believes that the inner workings of a cell phone should be able to change their outer jackets. Guinness’ World Record holder of the “lightest cell phone” can turn into different devices with specific buttons and interfacing. Included in the collection is the street art, express, bicycle, night, car, sport, classic and ring jacket. The Modu can also be placed into PMPs, digital cams, photo frame and DECT phones to share your images with others. We expect that this one will not be inexpensive nor cater to those who keep their cellies in their pockets without as much as a cover.

The former German guitar maker’s software can help musicians and engineers correct notes that are out of tune as well as unreleased classic music that was recorded on out-of-tune instruments.

There is a new guitar in town, sort of. The Chameleon Guitar takes on almost any style with an internal computer. By swapping part of the soundboard it changes the acoustics. For example, adjusting the hybrid instrument can make a classical-sounding guitar turn electric. Amit Zoran and his team from MIT will keep working on the prototype and envision music companies developing their own soundboards and new instruments.
