Perfect Shave

If you are a typical American male, it might be comforting to know that you - more than likely - shave completely wrong. If you use a disposable razor with 5 or 6 blades, you are not a proper gentleman. What you should have is a brush made of badger hair for starters:

Q: What are the basic tools you need for wetshaving?

A: The perfect shave has three ingredients: a good razor, a good brush, and glycerin-based shaving cream. But the biggest difference between wetshaving and the way most guys shave today is the use of a shaving brush. A good badger-hair shaving brush is the single most important ingredient in getting the perfect shave—if you change no part of your shaving routine except to add a good shaving brush to the mix, you’ll be astounded at how much better and more enjoyable your shaves become.

CanaryWireless Hotspotter

When we received the Canary Wireless Digital Hotspotter, I was unsure of how useful the product would be in this day and age. After all, I have been doing just fine flipping open my PowerBook and checking to see if there was a wireless signal around. Why would we need a device that is dedicated to detecting wi-fi networks that are surrounding you? Well, you have to use it to know. The CanaryWireless Digital Hotspotter is an extremely helpful little device, and we explain why after the jump.

The LED Cap

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Wearables,

LED CapWe just love the various different ways that electronics are used in the land across the Pacific. I mean, just take a look at this LED cap. Just think about the possibilities here. For the bandwagon hopper, just reprogram your hat to display the name of the team which is currently in the lead at a sporting event. The thing can hold six 256 character messages in it’s memory, so have a field day. The display is a 17x7 dot-matrix screen, so think 2-3 letters at a time, scrolling across your forehead.

Fans of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling rejoice - for the first time in quite a few years you will be able to get your hands on a wrestling game that is not branded with the WWE brand. Midway is looking to bring a TNA Wrestling game to market sometime in 2007. Based on that information, we can expect to see the title appear on next-generation consoles. We look forward to seeing how Midway integrates TNA’s unique six-sided wrestling ring into the gameplay schema.

GamerCard

This widget displays your gamer card, or anyone elses gamer card for Xbox Live on Xbox 360. This includes information on your Avatar, Gamer Rep, Gamer Score and Zone. This will also display the most recent games the player has played, though clicking on them will not take you to the comparison page at the moment because Dashboard cannot open URLs with special characters in them. You can however click on the Avatar to be taken to the players profile page.

You will need a Macintosh with 10.4 or greater to run the Dashboard version or a Windows/Mac OS computer with a copy of Konfabulator 2.1.

While we at Gear Live are happy to tell you what sort of television you should invest in, which DVR to buy, and how to stream video via your Xbox 360, we aren’t experts when it comes to the actual programming that you will find on a daily basis when channel surfing. Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector

Over at PlayFeed there is a quick hands-on with the new Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. As stated there, this is just a stellar m ove on Nintendo’s part. The dongle, which only works on Windows XP machines, allows access to Nintendo’s Wi-Fi Connection service through a signal generated by the device. This means that players without wireless networks can still get online and battle players the world over. In fact, the USB Connector supports up to five Nintendo DS connections at once. Check out PlayFeed for more images.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection

This past Saturday, we received an advanced look at the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. As soon as we saw the packaging, it immediately became apparent that Nintendo is getting behind their Wi-Fi Connection service in a big way. In fact, I am at a loss as to why Sony didn’t think of something like this for the PSP. Basically, the Wi-Fi USB Connector allows anyone with a computer and a broadband connection to log in to Nintendo’s Wi-Fi gaming service. That means that there is no need to pay for a wireless router and configure a wireless network. This is really, really a smart move by Nintendo. Even better, one USB Connector allows up to five Nintendo DS units to connect to the Internet at once. The Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector can be purchased for $34.99 USD.

We snapped a couple of images of the contents, which you can check out after the jump.

SingularityYou heard me right. Microsoft is working on a new operating system dubbed Singularity. Built from scratch using a new language, it aims to be very dependable. Apparently Microsoft is willing to sacrifice some performance for stability. Could this be an attempt to quiet the *nix VS. Windows stability debate? Here is the technical report (PDF) from Microsoft.  For those less into tech jargon or who don’t want to sift through the document, Dark Side Programming has a nice overview.
