Many hardcore gamers claim they’re “addicting to games” or that “games are addicting.” In truth though, these individuals most likely aren’t refering to the word addicting in the traditional sense.
In fact, dictionary.com has different definitions for the word addicting.
ad·dict ( P ) Pronunciation Key (-dkt)

2. To occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively: The child was addicted to video games.n. (dkt)

Nintendo’s sorry. This is in regards to Japanese consumers who want a DS, but haven’t been able to get one. According to Game Daily, “The DS has actually become the fastest selling system in Japanese history, with over 5 million units sold in that country alone.” The fastest selling system in Japanese history! If that’s not an accomplishment, we don’t know what is. Keep up the good work Nintendo! Just keep up with the supply count as well.
Here’s some of what Nintendo said:
“During the year-end period, there was a shortage of our company’s portable gaming system, the Nintendo DS, due to a flood of demand which far exceeded our expectations,” said the release by Nintendo translated by YamaKiyo Press. “We greatly apologize for inconveniencing all of our customers and retailers.”

Microsoft And Sony To Duke It Out Online
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox Live,
According to Bill Gates, that is. Here’s what the man recently said:
“We’ve got a lot of things that they don’t know that we’re doing, so we’ll keep them on edge a bit….We had to learn a lot with Xbox 1, and the decision to require broadband, to go with VoIP, but we learned a lot about wanting to put things into the operating system so you can chat even while you’re playing the games, it’s really a level of richness that the games are built on top of that we didn’t have that last time.
“We learned how to do that, we learned about contests and spectators, and so this is really a second generation of Live for us. It’s very based on software expertise, so it will be interesting to see what Sony does in that dimension.”
He added, “I don’t think there’s any doubt we’ll have a substantially higher share in this generation than we had last generation. It depends on our execution, it depends on Sony’s execution. This is a business we’re committed to, so we’re just going to keep doing our best.”
We’re excited as anyone about all of this. Personally, my favorite feature of the Xbox 360 may very well be its online integration. Being able to pull up your friends list whenever, check their accomplishments, and see what they’re up to at all times is pure bliss. Additionally, the Xbox Live Arcade has brought many treasures. Furthermore, on somewhat of a downer, he added that Halo 3 won’t nessicarily be released against PS3’s launch (as he had previously indicated) but when Bungie feels the game is ready.

Before you flame us and declare this “old news,” I’ll admit that this quiz has been floating around the internet for some time. I had to take the quiz a couple days ago for a Fundamentals of Video Games course I’m taking this quarter and found the quiz to be both interesting and humorous. So go take the quiz and report back to us if you’d like to let us know which pre-1985 character you are.

New Intel iMac Powered By Core Duo
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Corporate News, PC / Laptop,
Earlier today, in addition to the new MacBook Pro, Apple announced the first desktop Mac to take advantage of the Intel Core Duo chip - the iMac. While a lot of the hardware remains the same, the G5 processor has been replaced by the Intel Core Duo, which runs at either 1.83 GHz or 2.0 GHz. The new iMacs also feature an ATI Radeon X1600 graphics processor, and keep the built-in iSight camera. The iMacs are available in 17 and 20-inch models, and now include the newly announced iLife ‘06. You can pick up the 17-inch 1.83 GHz model (160 GB drive, 512 MB RAM) for $1,299 USD, while the 20-inch 2.0 GHz version (250 GB drive, 512 MB RAM) sells for $1,699 USD.

The quick and dirty is that it features built-in ethernet, an external SATA port for expanding your TiVo’s capacity, and that it will ship with a 250 GB hard drive. (Note: Bob incorrectly states in the video that the shipping capacity is 300 GB. He corrected himself after we had finished shooting.) No official release date exists, of course, but they’re saying “in the second half of 2006.” We will have a downloadable version of this video up shortly.
