Rolling Stones to Headline Glastonbury?

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Concerts / Tours, Gossip, Rumors, Rock,

The Rolling StonesThe Rolling Stones may headline Glastonbury next year.

The "Brown Sugar" group are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2013 with a series of concerts, and are rumored to be topping the bill at the iconic British festival, one of the largest music events in Europe.

"The band are gearing up for a load of live dates but tend to leave big decisions like this until the last minute. [Organizer] Michael Eavis is desperate to get the band confirmed and has made initial contact with their people. It would be a massive coup to get the band playing Glasto on what could be their last round of live dates. Getting a decision from the whole band can be tough and at the moment they are without an agent for live shows, which is not helping the situation. But there is a good chance 2013 will finally be the year they make it," a source told The Sun.

Madonna Backs Down from Wearing Muslim Bridal Dress

MadonnaMadonna has decided against wearing a Muslim bridal dress in her new music video over fears for her safety.

The 54-year-old singer was planning to don a "Terror Bride" outfit - a combination of a traditional Iraqi bridal veil and a US soldier's uniform - in the video for upcoming single "Superstar" as a statement against oppression against women and war, but her advisors convinced her to ditch the political stunt because of the outrage it would be likely to cause.

"Madonna had the outfit ready to go. She was really proud of it and said it was her 'Terror Bride' costume. She had paraded around in it and said she was going to wear it in her next music video. At first when people started telling her it was madness she just brushed it off. But when they mentioned that her actions could put her life at risk she decided to ditch it from her video and certainly won't be wearing it on stage," a source said.

The Celebration hitmaker - who is a devotee of Jewish offshoot religion Kabbalah - had already tried the costume on, and while she is said to be "really disappointed" about not wearing the outfit, she hasn't ruled out donning the attire in a music video at some point in the future.

MorrisseyThe Smiths are "never, ever going to reunite."

Morrissey's spokesperson has categorically denied rumors of a reunion for the "How Soon Is Now?" hitmakers and has hinted at tension between the group's members.

"The Smiths are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going to reunite - ever," the singer's representative told Rolling Stone.

When probed as to why, he replied, "You'd have to ask Morrissey that. There's got to be a story there, and maybe one day it will be told."

The iconic British band formed in 1982 and split five years later, with frontman Morrissey going on to enjoy a successful solo career. The group's reunion was said to be a "done deal," but guitarist Johnny Marr's manager has also come forward to shoot down the rumors. "It isn't happening. We are fully focused on preparing Johnny's new album for release and booking shows for 2013," he commented.

The "These Days" hitmakers have slammed the rumors, insisting they are simply taking a well earned break from music and could never give up on the band because they have worked so hard to make it a success.

"There were times when I didn't think the band would survive. There were times when I wanted to give up. But... I can't give up this band. And I never will. Because it's not just a band to me. It's my life. It's my family. It's my world," frontman Dave Grohl said in a statement.

Fans panicked on Saturday when Dave told the 60,000 strong crowd at Global Citizen Festival in New York, "This is it, man. We don't have any [shows] after this."

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in happier daysRobert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will both appear at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The Twilight Saga co-stars and former off-screen couple had been due to present an award together at the event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Thursday, but after Kristen cheated on Robert, their presence was put in doubt. However, MTV VMA host Kevin Hart believes both will still attend in order to promote the final movie in the vampire series The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.

"From what I understand they're both still gonna be here. I'm not really up to speed on the whole soap opera that's been going on between them. I know they've got a movie to promote. Twilight's coming out so it makes sense for them to show up at the VMAs if you ask me. [Although] I don't really care," Hart said.

Bruce WillisBruce Willis is considering taking legal action against Apple.

The 57-year-old actor wants to leave to his huge digital music collection to his daughters - Rumer, 24, Scout, 20, and 18-year-old Tallulah, whom he has with ex-wife Demi Moore - after he dies but iTunes customers are only allowed to "borrow" tracks rather than own them outright.

Digital campaigners Open Rights Group are backing Bruce in his challenge. "You can't resell downloads to friends - and are not allowed to leave them in your will. It's great that Bruce Willis is challenging it," said Jim Killock, of Open Rights Group.

Bruce - who also has five-month-old daughter Mabel with wife Emma Heming - has spent thousands on his music collection, which reportedly includes songs by The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, and downloaded his tunes onto "many, many iPods." The Sixth Sense actor is thought to be thinking of asking his legal team to suggest to Apple that family trusts could be the "holders" of his downloaded music.

The "A Team" hitmaker - who has previously penned tracks for One Direction - was asked by the country singer to work on her new album because she is a "massive fan" of his own music.

"Ed and Taylor have been in the studio in LA a lot over the past few weeks working on new material. She's into her British music and became a massive fan of Ed before asking to work with him recently. There is a mutual affection between the pair," a source said.

It has not yet been decided whether Ed's songs will be released as singles, but even just a credit on an album track will earn the 21-year-old British star around $310,000.

"It's still to be officially decided how the material will be released but just a single credit on her album will be worth big money. Taylor's country sound is massive around the world," the source added.
