Woody AllenAlthough Woody Allen is known for keeping out of the media spotlight, the reignited child molestation accusation against him has compelled him to seek a platform in The New York Times.

The 78-year-old filmmaker responded to his daughter Dylan Farrow's open letter from last weekend (in the same publication he offers his defense, no less) in which she confirmed for the first time as an adult that he sexually abused her when she was 7.

In the piece, Allen reaffirms his innocence, offering anecdotes aimed at painting his ex-partner and Dylan's mother Mia Farrow as a vengeful lover (not unlike what his lawyer has claimed): "Stacey Nelkin, whom I had dated many years ago, came forward to the press to tell them that when Mia and I first had our custody battle 21 years ago, Mia had wanted her to testify that she had been underage when I was dating her, despite the fact this was untrue. Stacey refused. I include this anecdote so we all know what kind of character we are dealing with here. One can imagine in learning this why she wouldn’t take a lie-detector test."

Russell BrandRussell Brand has called for a reform of drug laws following Philip Seymour Hoffman's death.

The Oscar-winning actor tragically died in his New York City apartment over the weekend after experiencing a relapse, and Brand - who himself has battled drug addiction and alcoholism in the past - believes he is a ""victim" of laws that "criminalize drug addicts."

The 38-year-old comedian-turned-political activist believes addiction is a "mental illness" and should be treated as a medical condition in order to prevent tragedies such as Hoffman's death from a suspected heroin overdose. In an article written for The Guardian newspaper, he stated, "Addiction is a mental illness around which there is a great deal of confusion, which is hugely exacerbated by the laws that criminalize drug addicts. If drugs are illegal people who use drugs are criminals. We have set our moral compass on this erroneous premise, and we have strayed so far off course that the landscape we now inhabit provides us with no solutions and greatly increases the problem. People are going to use drugs; no self-respecting drug addict is even remotely deterred by prohibition."

Dylan Farrow

Dylan Farrow has hit back at suggestions she has been "brainwashed" by Mia Farrow.

Woody Allen's adopted daughter, who spoke out at the weekend alleging he had abused her at the age of seven, insists she wasn't coached by her mother despite her older brother Moses' recent claims the allegations were merely part of Mia's "vengeful" response to her former partner's affair with her adopted daughter Soon-Yi Previn.

Katie Holmes and Jamie FoxxKatie Holmes spent the weekend in New York City with Jamie Foxx.

The duo, who first sparked rumors they were dating in August after they were spotted dancing at a party in the Hamptons, reportedly flew into the city from Los Angeles together but attended the Super Bowl separately on Sunday, as they are eager to keep their romance under-wraps out of "respect" for the 35-year-old actress' ex-husband, Tom Cruise, who is good friends with Jamie.

"Katie flew private to California to stay with Jamie at his home around the Grammys [on January 26]. Foxx's beautiful daughter Corinne was his date for the Grammys. But he and Holmes also spent time together during Super Bowl weekend, although they attended the game separately," a source said.

Woody AllenDespite his reclusive tendencies, filmmaker Woody Allen will be emerging from his proverbial shell to respond to the renewed child molestation accusations against him.

Allen is seeking to have a piece published in response to his estranged daughter Dylan Farrow's open letter wherein she claims that he molested her as a child - confirming her mother Mia Farrow's claims that Allen did so when Dylan was 7 years old.

The Blue Jasmine director's letter is rumored to appear in The New York Times - the same publication that put out Dylan's letter last Saturday. "[Allen] asked and we said, 'Yes, send it in,'" said Andrew Rosenthal, The New York Times' editorial page editor. Just because it has been submitted, however, Rosenthal points out that it won't necessarily go unedited or published at all: "It comes down to the editing process [as a full Op-Ed piece]... Normally, we don't publish a direct response. In this case, it was so personal, we thought that we should."

Ryan Gosling and Eva MendesEva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have reportedly split up.

The duo, who began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of the movie, The Place Beyond the Pines and have always been notoriously private about their romance, ended their relationship over Christmas because they wanted different things.

A source told InTouch magazine that the 39-year-old actress and the 33-year-old The Notebook star are still on good terms: "They started having problems back in September. They decided to quietly call it off for good around Christmas. There is no ill will."

The heartthrob has retreated to his native Canada to get over their break-up. "Neither is rushing out to date other people right now. They just knew it was time. They knew it was time to take the next step and get married. But neither was sure they wanted that to happen. He packed up and moved back to Canada for a while. He felt like he needed time out of the limelight to refocus," a friend told Life & Style magazine.
