ABC Picks Up Joss Whedon’s ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Series

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a full season.
After viewing the pilot of Joss Whedon's Avengers spin-off, featuring Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson - who was believed to have died in the big screen movie - bosses at ABC chose to make a full series of the show. Ming-Na Wen and Elizabeth Henstridge will join Clark in the series, which tells the story of the peace-keeping company S.H.I.E.L.D [Stragetic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate] headed by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) in Marvel's films.
An official description of S.H.I.E.L.D reads, "Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel's feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet) (sic)."

Agent Coulson to Return in ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Series

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Announcements, News,
It's not a bad thing to be Joss Whedon's friend. Like, say, when your character is killed off in one of the summer's biggest films and he's resurrected in an ABC television series. Such is the case with Clark Gregg. Cue the comic book fans' tears of joy.
Marvel announced in a panel yesterday at New York Comic Con that the character of Agent Phil Coulson will be revived for the small screen series adaptation of S.H.I.E.L.D. Based on the Jack Kirby comics of the same name, the series will follow the adventures of the secretive military agency S.H.I.E.L.D. (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistic Directorate). Coulson will be brought back from his death in The Avengers, but there's no word yet as to exactly how that will be done...
Joss' brother Jed Whedon will join him in producing the show, along with Jed's wife Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
There's no word yet as to when the series is set to premiere.

Glee: The Twist, The Sing-Off and The Guests

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, FOX, Rumors, Spoilers, Video,
Tuesday’s episode of Glee, “Dream On,” was explosive in many little ways - and it’s what everyone’s talking about after several hours of prime time TV.
The episode inched us ever-closer to the Regionals competition, where feature glee club New Directions will go head-to-head with the more successful Vocal Adrenaline. Neil Patrick Harris and Idina Menzel were among the long line of guest stars, but arguably the night was won by Joss Whedon. The director has been a main topic of Twitter discussion since it was announced he would direct the episode, and now the Gleeks are filled with praise for his management of the popular show.
Twitter and FOX forums also lit up with praise for Neil Patrick Harris, the episode’s very fun dance number and the amazing twist - though, some are still scratching their heads over the development. Many are taking the twist at face value, but some are still searching for devious plots meant to wreck the glee club’s chances at the all-important Regionals competition.

Who needs a Thanksgiving parade when they can have Halloween celebration?
The cast of Glee might not be welcome to perform during NBC’s coverage of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, but they will still have a stadium full of supporters.
On October 31, the FOX stars will hit the field during Game 3 of the World Series. The performance - which will take place in either LA or Philadelphia - will come at the start of the game when the cast members sing the National Anthem.

First Look: Dollhouse Season Two Promos

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Action, Drama, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, FOX,

Fox has released promotional photos for Joss Whedon’s latest brain-numbing action-drama show, Dollhouse, and let’s just say that he’s truly working with that small budget.
Aside from Echo’s psychedelic-colored, blatantly-literal dollhouse room, the individual cast members (photos after the jump) get kicked to the dumpy, $5 wannabe-Fisher-Price house. Season two of Dollhouse airs Friday, September 25.
On a side note, I’m still not yet prepared for Amy Acker’s impending absence. Will I really have to watch ABC’s Happy Town to get my Amy fix?

Small Budget Won’t Get in Whedon’s Way

Folks over at Dollhouse are already two weeks into plotting its next season, and creator Joss Whedon could care less about the major budget cut this time around.
“I just wanted to die of tiredness. About two hours after starting to talk to the writers about story, I was back with such a vengeance, and so energized and so pumped because we really understand the show now. We understand what works, and what didn’t work so well or what we weren’t so thrilled about. We don’t have the onus of trying to be a big hit sitting on our shoulders. We can just be ourselves. And so the stories we’re breaking are pure, and exciting, and everybody’s on-board in the room, and it’s never flowed better.”
Yoohoo—do you hear that, Fox?
“Really, just every meeting is like, ‘What’s the most fun we can have with this actor?’ about the whole cast. All I can say—‘cause I’m gonna be Mr. Un-Spoiler—is that we’re having a crazy amount of fun, and usually, that tends to translate onto the screen,” he tells EW.

Dollhouse: Does it Look as Bad as We Had Feared?

Okay - let’s face it. On paper, Dollhouse already sounds like a potential disaster.
Back in July, creator Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel) announced he would be shooting a new pilot for his FOX series. Two months later, production on the show was temporarily halted while scripts were being tweaked.

Should we start worrying about FOX’s mid-season schedule?
Less than a week after learning that 24‘s production had temporarily shut down, we’re getting word about another work stoppage. According to studio execs, Joss Whedon’s new series, Dollhouse, is once again getting a pre-premiere touch up.
Just over a month ago, the show’s creator announced that he was in the process of writing a whole new pilot. This decision was deemed necessary to help clear up any possible confusion. Now filming is being placed on pause for more scripting adjustments.
