Tyra Helps Transgendered Contestant Get Operation

Although Tyra Banks is known for encouraging women to love themselves, the former supermodel is not entirely above physical transformations. On tomorrow’s episode of Tyra, a recent contestant will be presented with a big surprise: she’ll be getting a sex-change operation for free.

Those who have been following Cycle 11 are already familiar with the story behind Isis King. The former homeless girl became the show’s first pre-op transgendered contestant earlier this fall. And while Isis (a.k.a. Darrell Walls) was very open about her situation during the competition, she admits it was hard not feeling like the rest of the ladies.

Unfortunately for Isis, an expensive operation just hasn’t been an option for her up until this point. King, in tears, told Tyra, “I try not to think about it because it is something I’m really passionate about. And I feel like I really was born in the wrong body. And, you know, it’s just the one thing that makes me feel uncomfortable.”

Well, thanks to Bank’s ability to recognize a good sweeps piece, the aspiring model will not have to wait any longer. Dr. Marci Bowers, a top gender reassignment surgeon (and former patient), is now offering to donate her services to the 22-year-old for free. Should we expect to see an Isis follow-up during the February ratings period? I wouldn’t expect anything less from Tyra.
