Paradise Hotel 2: Nathan Sent Home
Paradise Hotel: 2: Episode 4 offered yet more proof that there is nothing more annoying than being around drunk people when you are stone-cold sober.
The only real headline from the show is that Nathan Clutter was sent home by the maneuvering of new hotel guest Johnny. Johnny said Nate’s desire to spend time alone, read and be respectful to women just didn’t fit in with the loud, obnoxious, drunk, morally bankrupt group. (Nathan Clutter jumped to his death from a Texas cell phone tower less than a month after taping of Paradise Hotel 2 ended. His family believes he was suffering from an undiagnosed mental disorder. The show had a brief tribute to Clutter at the end.)
This episode began with a reminder that Mike, the 25-year-old Phoenix real estate buyer, and Tanya, the 25-year-old San Diego public relations worker, had sex the night before, a fact she admitted to freely at the women’s breakfast the next morning. She and Mike both decided to euphemistically refer to most of what they did as “finger painting”. That annoying term would come up again and again in this episode.
Krista, the 22-year-old hairdresser from Phoenix, expressed concern that her roommate, super-tool James, was getting too physical with her in the bed they share. She talked about how a wasted James tried to cuddle with her to the point where she felt like she was being attacked and had to put a pillow between them. Krista is a virgin. She fears that James and Raheim’s sexual tensions are getting out of control and that they’ll get her out of Paradise Hotel if she doesn’t put out at some point. James insists he is not at all attracted to Krista and she shouldn’t flatter herself.
Later, Krista got on her huffy bike when the girls didn’t wake her up for breakfast. She told Lauren she feels like she doesn’t fit in anymore because she won’t exploit herself sexually to make friends. Lauren, in a moment of clarity, said she supposes the reason the hotel is so sexually charged is that the guests have nothing better to do and nothing else to talk about.
Later, the guests had a Mardi Gras party featuring a body painting contest. Each hotel guest had to pair up with someone who wasn’t their roommate. Johnny was the judge. Johnny said he couldn’t decide a real winner because “he really likes the deepness and the hotness”.
As the night wore on and ungodly amounts of alcohol were consumed, James became more and more obnoxious. Most of the time he pestered Atlanta model Tidisha telling her he wants to hook up with her like crazy; he also likes Lauren, but she’s his second choice. He also insulted Tidisha’s roommate, Raheim, and made allusions to himself as the top guy in Paradise Hotel. He might be but that is not saying much.
After the party James joined the ranks of annoying drunks everywhere and wouldn’t stop talking about himself while Krista was just trying to sleep.
The next day, the men packed up knowing one of them would be leaving. Mike waxed poetic about the relationships he’d made and how he didn’t want to see anyone go. Nate seemed nervous. Johnny’s hair got bigger in the humidity. Raheim worried about Johnny since he had immunity and would ultimately decide which guy goes home. Raheim, the writer from New York, also tried to butter the ladies up by toasting to them and calling them all extremely hot.
In the end, James picked Krista again, Raheim picked Tidisha, Mike picked Tanya, Ryan went for Lauren, Nate picked Charte but then so did Johnny which sent Nate packing.
The final moments of the show saw James deciding he actually likes Lauren better telling her, “You’re definitely the person that I’m into.. you’re my type.” Raheim got wind of what was going on and confronted James saying he was trying to steal Raheim’s primary girl and his alternate. Good lord, get these jackasses back to the cave.
Johnny was also caught trying to come up with a strategy to keep himself, Charte, James and Tidisha in the game until the end. Mike overheard and quickly told Raheim. Raheim got mad, blah, blah, blah.
The next episode has a new girl arriving and more trouble for good girl Krista.
