Sydney Andrews - Melrose Place

Original viewers got quite a shock in 1997 when Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) was tragically killed on her wedding day. But viewers of the new series will see her brought back from the grave…only to return to that same grave shortly into the first episode.

Sydney will be found floating in the pool just after she’s brought back to life. It’s the sort of thing that could only happen at Melrose Place.

“It will feel nostalgic, but it’s not the old Melrose,” said Todd Slavkin, one of the show’s writers. “Sydney’s death in the first 10 minutes…means anything could happen.”

How Sydney dies - facedown in the pool - is no secret. It’s been a major promotional element for the show. Why she dies - and who does the deed - is the big mystery. Flashbacks, familiar faces and remembrances will pepper the first episode of the show, so viewers can get caught up on the melodrama and mayhem which frequently occurs at Melrose Place. The Sydney-centric crime will be solved in the first season.

New residents of Melrose Place include filmmaker Jonah Miller () and his girl, Riley Richmond (Jessica Lucas), who teaches first-grade. Ella Simms (Katie Cassidy) is a publicist who rooms with med student Lauren Young (Stephanie Jacobsen) who can’t actually pay for school. Auggie Kirkpatrick (Colin Egglesfield) is a sous chef at a trendy restaurant. Violet Foster (Ashlee Simpson-Wentz) is new to L.A., and becomes the first to discover Sydney’s dead body.
